No Judicial Free Zones
Connect the dots from the detention cases currently before the Supreme Court and the torture that happened to Iraqi prisoners.

The Bush administration wants not only the prisoners at Guantanamo but even American citizens they deem "enemy combatants" to be exempt from all judicial review of the conditions under which they are contained.

So who would then decide what conditions are acceptable? Military intelligence officers doing their interrogations.

And it is military intelligence officers who are accused of directing the torture of prisoners in Iraq:

3. It could happen to any of us, right now, today.
Jose Padilla is an American citizen, living in the U.S. He was taken and every right he had was summarily extinguished. Padilla is not a model citizen, but, under the Bush* Regime, none of us are.

If they can take Jose Padilla, without hearing, access to an attorney, without confrontation of the evidence and/or witnesses against him, for an indefinite period of time, without trial or habeas corpus, they can do it to you or me. And once they take you from your family and friends, to a place far from you home in secrecy and silence, they can do anything to you they want.

4. I'm beginning to think . . .
. . . that this country is in dire need of a strong leader with the same philosophy as Kucinich. I'd vote for Dennis in a heartbeat.

6. No, it began a lot earlier than that...
...on January 25, 1898...when we used the sinking of the USS Maine as an excuse to begin a century of imperialism.

http://www.smplanet.com/imperialism/remember.html

It has gone downhill since that time...

7. Perhaps the 9-11 Commission should use those interrogation ...
... techniques on members of the administration. Yeah. I think that's a good idea. If the administration thinks it's humane then they should all be subjected to the same techniques, if only to "walk the talk." :eyes:
