Do neighbors have the right to spy on their neighbors?
My neighbor has a camera pointed at our house. Is this illegal, what can I do it if it is?

2. Call the cops. At the very least, they can go and find out why.
If there isn't a good enough reason...i.e. a dog barking, child abuse, he won't be allowed to continue.

Is he a freeper?

3. Oh, I don't think it's illegal at all in the Fourth Reich.
Those laws on paper, ridiculous when you have a mandate from the LORD. Why don't you train a camera back on them and see who is legal and who isn't?

5. I have no idea about what's going on in your case but ...
A friend of mine sets up a web camera in his kitchen window so he can check on his dogs in the backyard when he's out of town. He can attach to the camera over the internet and view the picture when he wants to.

A lot of people will set up webcams of their yards or the view from their deck just because they can.

If, however, there's only a driveway between your house and his, and the camera is pointing from window to window, well, that's a different thing, I'd say.

8. Well not really
My parents recently got divorced and he put this camera up to make sure me and my brother are safe. I dunno if that is legitimate?

9. Depends.
As long as he/she doesn't place the camera on your property, it's perfectly legal. There is nothing the police can do about it as long as the camera is on the owners property. I think the courts have ruled this time after time.

However, I suppose they *could* ask him why he's doing it, but I'm not absolutely certain.

13. Not as far as I know.

Reasonable expectation of privacy is a valid point. However, I do not believe this is the case here. I'm no lawyer, but I think the owner of the camera can do pretty much whatever he/she likes with it, provided they do not violate the "reasonable expectation" precedent. What brings this to mind is the "search and seizure" of garbage that has been laid out on the curb for disposal. The police or other LEOs can (and often do) search that for evidence without a warrant--because none is needed. The reasonable element again falls in this catagory.

For example, many apartment houses have security cameras in their corridors or entrances. This does not violate any laws of privacy. I think many such precedents have been set since the advent of these type of cameras.

edited for missing word. :(
