Among hundreds of digital pictures passed around her MP unit -- and obtained by The Post -- is one taken before the soldiers got to Abu Ghraib in October. In it, Harman is smiling, crouching slightly, a thumb up, and leaning toward a blackened, decaying corpse with long fingers and a gaping mouth.

The photo was taken at a makeshift combat morgue in Al Hillah, her family said, citing letters that Harman sent with the picture.

Sabrina Harman grew up around photographs of dead people, her family explained. Her father was a homicide detective, and her mother was a forensics buff. Robin Harman said her husband often brought home crime-scene photographs for the family to "profile."

"She has been looking at autopsies and crime-scene pictures since she was a kid," her mother said.

6. It's strange, the thumbs up, but not the forensics.

My best friend is studying to be a pathologist. Her daughter is fascinated by the work her mother does. (Hey, I'm glad to hear it! Girls in Science! WooHoo!) While neither my friend nor her daughter would ever consider grinning and thumbs-upping over a corpse, they neither one are "grossed out" by the natural decay that happens to us when we die.

It's science, people. It's not a weird family. It's just one that faces the facts about death.

The first pic on the washington post slideshow was one they had to crop.

The first pic alone is truly depraved... She even LOOKS like a little 10 year old boy too. I'm not going to comment on all of them, and many of these are utterly perverse. This is not a porno mag with consenting adults, this is real life in a faux war.

and there were only 10 pictures. Hundreds were purportedly taken. I wonder what they look like. :scared:

And all of it done where Saddam did his own torture. That's the fuckin' icing on the cake.
