What's Rove up to now?
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A7139-2004May6.html

"The White House is so gloomy about the repercussions that senior adviser Karl Rove suggested this week that the consequences of the graphic photographs documenting the U.S. abuse of Iraqi detainees are so enormous that it will take decades for the United States to recover, according to a Bush adviser."

Since when did Rove ever say anything that pessimistic unless he was setting up some sort of disinformation ploy? But what's his game? It's making me crazy that I can't get a clue.

1. he's probably good at damage control
but this barrel has so many holes in it it was barely holding water to begin with, then someone came along and blasted it with a 12 gauge.

time to unfreeze BinLaden and "reveal" the WMD's.

Edited on Fri May-07-04 10:30 PM by Jackpine Radical
"decades ... to recover?" Isn't that an admission of a pretty big fuckup? Is he planning to make Clinton come forward & testify that he gave the orders or something?

4. This goes far beyond
anything that a low rent dirty trickster hack like Rove can handle. It's all coming apart now, if rove is doing anything he's assembling a very large legal team.

10. I think that's it! Big legal team!!!
Rove is sneaky, underhanded, reasonably smart, and will pull any dirty trick he can think of, but he's not stupid!

I would bet he's pacing the floor asking how the h*ll do we get out of this one?

Sometimes even the best spinner can't hide everything!

8. An attempt to provoke the Arabs
...into another attack on the US, legitimizing martial law and cancelling the election? Nothing happens by chance with this pack of lying hyenas. Bush and Sharon obviously were trying for this with their mutual jerk-off on stealing Palestine. Sharon ordered the craven extra-judicial executions of Hamas leaders, practically throwing the resulting blood and gore in the faces of Arabs and chortling with fellow lickspittle Likud ghouls about what a grand thing they had done.

"Civil disobedience is not our problem. Our problem is civil obedience. Our problem is that numbers of people all over the world have obeyed the dictates of the leaders of their government and have gone to war, and millions have been killed because of this obedience. . . Our problem is that people are obedient all over the world in the face of poverty and starvation and stupidity, and war, and cruelty" : Howard Zinn

9. CYA Rove is covering his ass
If Bush loses ( I should say when!), Bush will blame it on everyone but himself. I'll bet Rove knew about this in January and the WH didn't do what he told them to do - like "get in front" of the scandal. Those dumbasses just hid the truth - like usual- since it's been working. This time it bit them in the arse, and Rove is saying "I told you so" you morons.

11. It is making me crazy too.
It is like it is part of the "Big Plan." But what are the ulterior motives? What action are they attempting to encourage?

13. This investigation will open a whole new can of worms
Once they begin to look at the so called civilian authorities, the ones that have special immunity from prosecution, we will get peek into how powerful the Military Industrial Complex has become. The tentacles of these multinational corps have become so entrenched in this administration that it has been hard to tell where our government ends and the private interests begin. They are using our system, tax money, military personnel, and hardware, to wage wars based on their private corporate interests. This, I believe, was what brought that vacuous stare on Rumsfeld's face when questioning by McCain lead to the "who's in charge issue". If you listened to the hearing closely, Rummy and friends never really answered any question completely, they deferred to the lawyers behind them on several occasions, and their supposed "time line chart" did not have any information on discovery or chain of command.
These guys are in very deep doodoo.
