democratic (underground) v representative (underground)? Undergound?
The problems of the people are very much above board. As stifled in this "free" society as we are, somehow our problems get at least some "air" time. Many would rather forego the considerations of others and only support their own narrow view of "as it should be".

Thus the electoral college. I think it is a genious political manuveur. I also think it is now heavily manipulated by non-voting entities. Corporations. An argument against the electoral college is unfruitful in my opinion. But an argument that dollars do not equal free speech is dead on. People, by and large, are good. Profit/power motivations destroy much of the "good".

1. underground is within
Despite the cultural focus, the underground is inside your own heart. It is our choice in this moment to sing prosetry, that it may inspire. Inside the inner hall of justice is the natural constitution. Seems to me, america was founded on this very principal... that starting with the people's will over the divine right of kings was a good idea. That is "the enlightenment" is it not.

Any argument on the electoral college is not temporal with the focus to get the most from your democracy in 2004. A total total change towards the new american enlightenment.... a radical demilitarization and the peace dividend of a sadly all-to-present-day war and occupation on the non-american societies of this earth. If you want a distortion, what is it to live in an american overseas protectorate nation where defense illogic of occupation overrides local democracy... as in okinawa. The radical summary stripping of human rights by american interests must be recognized in order that an informed electorate realize it preaches insanity against humanity and sustainability. It seems the neocon enlightenment is to destroy the earth that we can live darth-vaderlike in space suits as the atmosphere will be so toxic.

I agree people are better than dollars. take the country back. campaign finance reform, uuuhh... end the drugs war... please. I think the wisest is to adopt a new non-constitution to uphold the principal of the universal declaration of human rights as the core constitution by which a court may judge legality. Then use a british-style coalition upper and lower chamber... one with longer duration. A new constitution would be the most refreshing modernization america could undergo... one that stands down to plowshares... and gives us all a break from police-state corporatocracy... fluffy dreams.

Somewhere within the whim of dreams does the sparrow fall. ;-)
