Zimbabwe row mars Bush's tour

Zimbabwe's opposition leader accuses the South African president of making false statements to George Bush


Zimbabwe's opposition leader has accused South African President Thabo Mbeki of making mischievous statements to visiting US President George W Bush about the crisis in his country.

Mr Mbeki had said talks between the government of Robert Mugabe and the opposition were progressing.

Speaking for the opposition in Harare, Morgan Tsvangirai denied direct talks were under way and he accused Mr Mbeki of seeking to "buy time" for Mr Mugabe.
