Make the Cal. Recall expose Bush/Cheney/Lay/Enron's role in the 2001
Edited on Sat Aug-09-03 11:48 AM by TruthIsAll
Energy crisis. Along with the BushCo impeachable Iraq fiasco and taxcuts, it caused most of the fiscal/economic problems in the state.

The M.O. of the BushCo hypocritical bastards is to bring chaos (like they did in Iraq) and use it to their political advantage.

BushCO is behind this all the way. They want Arnie as Gov. so they can prevent Voter-verified audits in the Diebold machines. Bush knows he cannot lose with Diebold in.

Make this New Coup backfire on the cabal. If the Dems don't use this issue to their advantage, they are toast in 2004! Al Gore, Reps. Waxman, Stark et al should lead the way.

Let's beat Bush like a drum.

1. I would like
to see the whole recall fiasco turned into a referendum on the Enron/Cheney Energy Plan. But who is going to do that? Looks like Davis will spend his political capitol on attacking Arnold.

Arianna said much of it in her announcement but she is being swallowed up in the Arnold media frenzy.

Any ideas?

2. This is absolutely right -- a crucial point, that media (& Dems) ignore.
What is the main gripe against Davis? The state budget crisis. Why is there a state budget crisis? Two reasons: the popping of the stock market bubble, & the 2001 plundering of the state Treasury by the machinations of Enron/Bush/Cheney.

Both of these things have everything to do with Republicans, and the latter of them is directly due to Bush, Cheney, & Ken Lay.

Naturally, the media is ignoring this aspect of the situation, preferring instead to simply say that "Davis is unpopular," without going into the question of WHY he is unpopular.

I'd complete one of your sentences a bit differently: If the Democratic Party fails to use this issue to their advantage, it will be an act of unforgiveable cowardice & political stupidity. It would be right in line with failing to defend Gore after the stolen election (or Clinton during "Impeachment"): the Dems would be victims of an outrageous attack against democratic procedures & institutions -- but would be too timid to expose it.

3. You are so right! An opportunity to rub Bush's nose in his own swill
Our rehearsal for the big battle. If we can't help California Dems put Bush and his GOP tricksters back under the tar pits they oozed out of, it doesn't bode well for 2004.

Last night I watched Bill Maher. The man bent over backwards to help Gray Davis. It was palpably evident how disgusted Maher was at the whole recall process. I think we'll see a lot of star muscle being flexed in this campaign.

All those Hollywood liberals have got to be fuming over this tactic of using a ill-conceived recall law to oust a Democrat. Such an action will create endless recall campaigning in California. If the state is extremely unlcky, some idiot will actually start a business collecting signatures and recalling every governor from now on.

In Washington state which has an initiative process meant to give people more power over the legislative process, one individual bent on making a living being a permanent initiative sponsor has wreaked havoc on the state's finances.

The original intent of laws that give the people power of recall or initiative were not meant to be so cynically applied. They were meant to be last resorts to correct extreme situations. Like impeachment of the executive at the federal government, it was never meant to be utilized against a man for trivial or clearly partisan purposes.
