Bush knew nothing about the pictures at all until....
Edited on Thu May-06-04 07:22 AM by Flubadubya
after they were released to the press. That's the story. Now, who believes that? I sure don't.

This little sissy, titty-baby is hiding behind skirt tails again, disavowing any responsibility for anything.

He is either lying about this or he has THE worst cabinet a president has ever had in the history of the United States... they must never brief him on anything. Hah! I think it's weird how his cabinet members slavishly submit themselves to his immaturity and banality. Damn, they sure are loyal!

One reason I really believe the * knows about all these things but claims not to is the fact that he never fires anybody, especially when it's someone who should have kept him informed (as in the case of the pictures). You watch, Rummy ain't goin' nowhere.

If his staffers really had failed to brief him on these important issues, then they came out and caused a firestorm (as now), this person or persons would be gone in a heartbeat. He can hardly afford to fire them, though, if they actually did brief him. They certainly can't be allowed to go out and tell the truth, now can they? CYA Shrubby boy!

1. That's a good point
he doesn't dare fire Rummy. Rummy has a big mouth and everything would come out then. If Congress insists that Rummy go, we may have some interesting preelection fireworks.

2. Notice the difference
He didn't know about the pictures until after they were released to the press. He knew about the torture in at least December or January.

He knew these atrocities were going on, and he did nothing to stop it until the pictures went public and THEN he was all outraged and pledging to put a stop to this and make the perpetrators responsible.

The professional ass-coverers for Bush were desperately trying to delay the release of the photos because they knew that the stuff was going to hit the fan. They were trying to keep this all undercover, but doing NOTHING to stop it.

15. fucking parsing
they do this shit all time - carefully parse everything they say. The White House admitted that they knew about the abuse allegations in January (at least) The International Red Cross is now saying that they have been complaining to Washington for longer than that. This is exactly like the Plame case - they only scurry around like an oveturned ant hill when the somnolent press finally wakes up. The most glaring discrepancy: When Saddam's troops engaged in systematic abuse at the Abu Ghraib prison, it was Saddam's fault. When Bush's troops engage in systematic abuse at the Abu Ghraib prison, it is the troop's fault.

4. Yeah right!
He did not find out about it until there was news update on the Cartoon Network, while he was on the floor playing with his Lego's.

5. Maybe he should take a break from all his vacationing
and fund raising, and read his PDB's once in awhile.

I can't imagine what other extremely important information is going unnoticed, like details of the next terrorist attack, because W is too busy playing pResident?

6. To hell with the pictures! He knew about the abuse and the investigation
back in January. The only reason this stuff has come out at all is because some soldier couldn't take this shit anymore and blew the whistle.

8. It just proves how out-of-touch he really is
They have spent enormous time trying to show that Bush is "hands on" President since the sh*t hit the fan over the 9-11 commission's findings of a lax President over terrorism concerns. But this shows they are frauds when it comes to a "hands on" President.

9. Cripes! A mere moron, or something worse?
Talk about a choice....

Either bush is such a fucking moron that he doesn't have a fucking clue what's going on, or he was complicit all along and did nothing.

It's just like Sept. 11. These alternatives are intolerable. What a sad state of affairs when I would PREFER to think that bush is just your garden-variety moron.

11. I always figured he made statements like this
Because it was the easy way out. After all, he is too damn stupid to offer an opinion on anything without excessive coaching, so he just tells the press that anything they ask about is news to him

12. CBS held the photos for 2 weeks
At the request of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Isn't that what the news reports said? And no one at the Joint Chiefs told Bush or Rummy about the photos for TWO WHOLE WEEKS?

13. he scolded rumsfield
there you have it. rumsfield was scolded. adn they let the press know that bush in closed doors scolded runsfield......but,

for the first time i have heard them say it was the pictures he didnt know about. so what. he knew about the abuses and did nothing. nothing. none of them did. just the pictures he SAYS he didnt know.

so, he is not bothered about the event. probably heard it was happening adn said so. so why should rumsfield go to him. but i am sure he knew. i dont believe him

14. Pictures are "red herring"....
Saying he knew nothing about the pictures is supposed to make the public believe he knew nothing about the event. I'm sure it actually works on most people.

"Sheez, if he didn't know about the pictures, he surely couldn't have known about the abuse." That's the way they will digest it.

Hell, they're almost right in one respect. Shrub usually has to be drawn a picture before he will "get it". :grr:
