The torture story is deflecting attention from the fact that the whole

invasion is torture and rape, by the way.

It suggests that the invasion could take place without torture. The implication is that without these torture crimes -- if the people who committed them are found and punished -- what America has done in Iraq would be OK.

People, the whole thing is torture and rape. That's its starting point. You can't punish a few bad apples and make it all OK.

Just my two cents.

So, if you're complaining about this, don't frame it in a way which allows the stuff we've seen pictures act as a symbol of one little thing that has gone wrong. Make sure people realize that it's a symbol of the whole thing,

Bush can't apologize for these pictures. He has to apologize for the whole invasion.

We shouldn't be asking for apologies for the pictures (or even JUST for convictions of these people in the pictures).

We should be arguing that the pictures are symptomatic of the whole problem, and you can't make right what's wrong by just addressing this one symptom.

We have to stop the ENTIRE rape, torture, humiliation, etc., which is the invasion itself.

(As if there would be no rape, etc., if not for the pictures. Right!)
