Some may have assumed that people could generally agree that the war was burdened with uncertainty, miscalculation and disaster. But the feelings run deep and the recent contention stirs up the emotions, memories and tenaciously held beliefs. We are back to Chicago in 1968, Kent State in1970, and Paris 1973.

<Snip> What’s next? Will we be seeing the Love It or Leave It bumper stickers again? Will there be talk of the “silent majority”? Does Don Rumsfeld reprise the part of Robert McNamara, while Bush plays Nixon and Kerry plays McGovern?
