I think he was in super denial mode. He couldn't figure out a way to spin the torture story.

It was really weird; he yelled over every caller.

I have heard the best (and the worst) trying to do it and they look like idiots for even trying. My favorite is when they start saying, "yea, but look what Saddam did"? When America needs to compare itself against Saddam in an attempt to make itself look good the time has come to take stock of exactly we are trying to accomplish in Iraq.

9. More's the pity. I agree that he's actually one of the few wingnut

hosts who actually has some "talent" although it is hard to classify. I remember seeing some photo of him in front of City Lights bookstore in SF. I'm assuming that his "conversion" from beatnik to wingnut was probably a completely calculated one based on "I have verbal talent" and "RW rants are worth big bux now" and "I can rant/stream of consciousness with the best of 'em", designed to make him bux as it has done.

7. It's amazing. I haven't been listening to these STUPID wingnut shows

recently, but I'm curious what the callers say. Just heard a snippet of one last night, Mike Gallagher (I think this is one local to Dallas), and apparently he was trying the "deflect" strategy of putting it back onto how the Dems were "politicizing" this and making a big political thing of itl... and some minister who was REALLY disturbed by these photos called him up and was having none of it, talked about how it was really a nonpartisan matter of human decency etc., really embarrassed the host and showed him up for what an ass he was...

8. yesterday morning G Beck and N Boortz were furious

Beck constantly corrected caller who tried the 'warrior mentality' spin.

Boortz was trying to explain to a caller the Muslim culture's view of men being nude in front of other men and that it was indeed torture.

This was happening at the same time on the 2 RW radio stations Tulsa is 'blessed with.'

Beck was saying that someone higher up authorized this; no way did a few low-rank military do this on their own. He was demanding it be followed as high up as necessary and those responsible be punished.

The whole deal was extremely surreal.
