This stuff is commonplace even in our own jails and prisons....
It is no big secret that Americans incarcerated in our own detention facilities are subjected to all kinds of horrible, de-humanizing, shit, including gang-rape, which is apparently considered humorous by a lot of otherwise seemingly reasonable people.

Not too much of a stretch to believe it is much worse when the captors have had it drilled into their heads that their captives are terrorists and are responsible for 9/11.

The *pResident's unrelenting propaganda campaign is the reason the troops are brainwashed and are out for revenge. He owns this war. He is responsible.

Is this asshole toast yet, or what?

1. Blacks have been telling america about this for a long time. Not until
Rodney King did America get a good whiff. It was too much though. Even with a GODDAMNED VIDEOTAPE of the incident, people were still arguing about whether he "deserved" it or not. WE looked at it, and then slunk back to our usual myths about what a good fucking people we are.

2. I agree
so it's in someway not so surprising that we would carry this behavior to another country. :-(

The thing that really amazed me about the furor over Rodney King was for the first time you had the "you're not looking at what you're really looking at" meme inserted into our public discourse about the meaning of video evidence. :wtf:

If not for Rodney King, nor Abner Louima (Sp?), we would never discuss what goes on in our prisons.

People are just fucked up. I don't buy all this talk that we fill ourselves with that somehow we Americans are special, better, and different. "We don't do that sort of thing."

Frankly, we do.

4. If Americans can lynch and then mug for the camera afterwards,

they can do pretty much anything.

I'm sure the grandparents and great grandparents of those soldiers involed in the Iraqi torture are dancing a jig over what 'wonderful' progeny they've created.
