Need help with stats on Bush campaigning and vacation days
Edited on Tue May-04-04 10:37 AM by heidiho
I wrote a letter to the editor for our local paper citing some stats that someone posted last week about the amount of time that Bush has taken for vacation and campaigning.
I sent this info to the editor and she wants to know the sources. Could someone help me out so I can get this info published.

It turned out that Bush works 6.5 hours per week was the bottom line!

1. Can't you go...
...to the Whitehouse.gov page and review the President's schedule and find out total vacation days from there?

I haven't done this, so just a suggestion.

2. here's some info
As of August '03, Bush has taken 250 vacation days. He calls them working vacation days (yeah right). 166 days were spent at his ranch in Crawford. The rest were either spent at his dad's house in Kennebunkport, Maine or at the Camp David retreat.

To compare to Clinton... in his entire 8 years, he took 152 days. Bush has almost doubled that in only three years.

George Bush Sr took 543 vacation days.
Reagan took 335.

Carter took the least... 79.

Here are two articles where I gathered this info from:

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/1999/08/21/politics/main34415.shtml

And here's the Letterman's Top Ten from the night he made fun of all of GWB's vacation days:

5. Do you have a source for these figures?
Thanks. The other links are basically for vacation time. Are there figures for 2004 yet?
