Fear of Disaster
I don't get premonitions often, but I remember being uncomfortable working in the World Trade Center in the summer of 2001. On my way to work I'd start to break out in hives and I'd slather Benadryl on my skin when I got there. On my way home, the red spots would go away by themselves. I thought it was something in the building, but that wouldn't explain why I'd break out even before I got there. Luckily for me, the assignment ended two weeks before the planes hit.

Here it is two years later and I'm again experiencing anxiety. I half expect that when I turn on the radio there will be news of something so important that people will remember what they were doing when they first heard about it. I feel how Yeats felt when he wrote The Second Coming. "Surely some revelation is at hand."

Gore's speech at NYU was disturbing. It should have gotten more of a response than it did; and that only heightens my anxiety. Gore said that the government has been on autopilot for a couple of years; there's nobody driving the bus. People think Bush is doing a good job because it's too frightening to face reality. I'm not breaking out in spots yet, but I'm worried.

1. yeah,
finally experiencing that Quayle maladministration is not so good. But if something does go down, How can the Bushivics say they weren't warned? even though they HAD ENOUGH LAST TIME. Of course the convention is a year away, plent of time for the spots to reappear.

Your country is involved in an illegal occupation (following an illegal war).
Your country has had its Constitution shredded and it citizen's rights trampled.
Your country's economy is on the skids

.....and you are freaking out because you're afraid something bad may happen?

8. Scaring the Bejeezus out of New Yorkers
Maybe the summer weather is the reason the cops and the Army aren't out there scaring the bejeezus out of us. We used to see cops with gas masks in the subway, where you can't run away even if you knew something was going down. The ones in the flak jackets with the assault rifles were pretty scary too. Especially with the bomb sniffing dogs!

Lately they seem to be making an effort not to panic people. I'll admit I'm goosey about another attack, but we're not supposed to blurt that out. However, the corporations are moving their back offices to New Jersey as fast as they can get out of town.

13. Not to mention the fact...
...that *'s ratings are dropping like wild fire again.

The repukes need another popularity boost, just like when they needed one back in September of 2001.

5. I woke up with that same feeling today...
...and it seemed to be coming from the recognition that Dems are finally starting to get some fire in the belly, again.

Gore's speech, George Soros' commitment to raise 75 milion dollars (including 10 million of his own) to beat bush, the groundswell of support for Dean, the AFL-CIO debates. All of this is encouraging but I sense the potential for a contrived disaster.

I hope I am so wrong.

7. Ta. Part of the new order is to keep us in a state of fear.
So everything they do, to stay in power, is to draw lines between us and the perceived enemy. The perceived enemy can turn into the real enemy after a time, if you bomb them enough. Their problem is that they don't know when to stop. Unfortunately, they will lead us into a bad situation if we don't stop it. I don't know how to tell you stop it. I do think Gore is doing the right thing now to warn us. Even he has realized that the new order is not playing by the rules. Let's hope we can stop this before another disaster happens. The new order wants us to be in a state of constant fear.

9. The Rats Are Taking Over
The story in the paper said the firemen had tried everything to get rid of the rats, and finally gave up. The firemen moved to another firehouse. This contributes to my feeling of dread: Turning and turning in the widening gyre, the falcon cannot hear the falconer ...

A week after September 11th, they finally reopened lower Manhattan so people could get to work. But the odor of the corpses buried in the rubble lingered over everything. I was on a subway train when the doors opened at Fulton Street, a block from the Trade Center. People covered their faces with handkerchiefs. Next day I took a different train.

The darkness drops again ...

Manhattan or something. Wondered if that was true.

On edit shortly after Sept 11, I meant

Holy pooh could imagine the war zone downtown New York / Manhattan probably was that day with the bodies and body parts strewn all over the place.

12. You think...
...*'s August vacation is a deliberate attempt to rekindle the "feel" of the Summer of '01?

If so, it's working.

I'm going through it, too. I won't even begin to touch on the details of why I'm feeling what I'm feeling, because you'll all think I've really lost it.

But I guarantee you, you're not alone. I'm hearing the same thing from friends and family all over the globe.

17. Yes, fear is their strength. But they are also undermining themselves.
While the Bush administration uses fear as its weapon against those who would oppose them, that weapon must be combined with the flip side of the coin: confidence.

When the nominees are officially declared - the Bush team will ask, "are you safer than you were four years ago?" Former White House insiders currently working with the Kerry campaign will say, "no."

These people inspire neither confidence nor enthusiasm in their leadership.

10. I spent all of 2001 with a bad case of "butterfly stomach"
I couldn't figure out why. I would just get this surge of something that made my stomach feel all crawly, so I know just what you mean. A few weeks back it started happening again. I am not one much for premonitions either, but Bush IS on vacation again, and his buddies are all bunkered down discussing mini-nukes. I hate it when that happens.

14. I had this same feeling...
during the campaign for 2000. So I decided I can either wallow in it or get really mad and do something. After the events of the past few years, I'm not scared anymore. I'm just more determined than ever to see that change is made.

I firmly believe that the whole world will start to calm down when the threat that exists in the White House is removed.

Turn it around and use it for fuel for fire in the belly. ;)

15. Interesting comments, OrdinaryTa...

I recall a post just the day before bombing of the WTC. One very strident and upset member involved in the post was a DUer who went by the name of "Manhattan Guy". He was angry at everyone, it seemed. As I recall, he was banned from DU and came back with another name. But I cannot forget this person. His instincts seemed to be telling him that something terrible was about to happen and it was being manifested as anger. We never heard from Manhattan Guy again. We can only assume he was a victim that fateful day.

Edited for comment about the stars -

I know there are many that discount any significance in the stars but around August 21st, the stars do align in such a way that Mars, the sages of old called it the planet of war, will be in opposition to the Sun, Venus, and Jupiter. The Moon and Pluto will also be in opposition that day and both will be squared Mars. I do believe that Mars is the planet of action, especially when it teams with the Moon. For what its worth.

18. Planetary Alignments
Has anybody charted September 11th to show why that day was chosen? I thought it had to do with the weather that day, not anything more celestial than that. Maybe the date of the event isn't as important as the date when the project was inaugurated.

By holding their nominating convention in New York in September 2004, the Republicans are making the 2,800 victims involuntary participants in a partisan spectacle. It's disrespectful of the dead, regardless of how "tasteful" they promise to be.

Tourists visiting the site have learned to behave themselves. In the early days, guys with beer cans would pose for for photographs, "Look Ma! Here I am at Ground Zero." We don't see that anymore.

and what rough beast ... its hour come round at last ...

24. Oh, it was quite a day, astrologically
The planet Pluto -- the planet of terrorism, destruction and renewal (Phoenix rising from the ashes is one symbol), transformation, death, corruption, etc. -- was crossing the U.S. natal Ascendant. With Saturn in opposition, indicating further "destruction."

It was also the Saturn Return for the WTC.

There are a number of excellent articles online about it.

BTW, the previous Pluto conjunction with the US Asc was at the 2000 Selection, which is reason enough to think "something" was terribly wrong with the results. George W Bush is himself Plutonian in nature, with Pluto conjunct his Asc natally, so the first Pluto crossing of the US Asc was represented by him.

Etc. Join us in the Meeting Room for more discussions on Mundane Astrology.

16. I think I am less uneasy about a physical disaster
and more upset about how the current political situation seems to be layed out. Until a few years ago, I just laughed off Rush et al AM talk radio. Now, I realize that what Rush and his ilk were doing was conditioning political foot soldiers to react a certain way. Now, with people lapping up what FAUX news et al tells them, and powerful conservatives wreaking havoc with our liberties, it makes more sense. I honestly wonder if, next November, we go to "Code Red" and the elections are cancelled/postponed, how many people will even flinch.

19. It's an excellent point that Gore's speech should have gotten more of
a response than it did. The media tried to ignore it; to slough it off as "sour grapes from a loser." But Gore's remarks actually hit many profound truths: that the country is moving in the wrong direction, & that the administration has adopted lying & misrepresentation as standard policy.

The fact that the media tried to avert its eyes from major frontal criticisms like these demonstrates once more that our social & political system has become unable to bear even the slightest whiff of truth. Terrified of facing any matter of substance, they run back to KobeArnoldTerror-Alert; it's all they're capable of.

26. one person in my family every generation is born Fey, or clairvoyant, and
i have the birth mark to prove it. I have dreams of disasters 4 to 14 days before. usually earthquakes, volcanic eruptions or floods. my mother was her generations but was ruined by religion. i had a conversation with her the week before 911 and was hyper about the neglect at the airports and the news I'd picked up about terrorists around the world who had been caught with plans involving crashing planes into buildings... i remember saying that this stupid president was going to deliberately let it happen to grab power. when it happened i got a frantic call from her asking if i had told an you else..because they would 'disappear' me. I am going nuts lately too. of course the administration calling the leader of North Korea, during arrangements for anti nuke talks, "an ugly little man" isn't helping any. Bush 'Talks to god'!, if Clinton had said he he "destroyed" two countries because god told him too... the blow job would have been long forgotten by the time he was committed. the paranoid irrationality throws me off. Politicians in tin foil lined suits.... in 1981 i visited my mother on the way up to the sierra's with my best friend to a job i had there, she followed us out to the car and i saw her 'look'...she walked up to randy and said,"there is something wrong with the front of your car... don't drive it anywhere but up and back to get it fixed, or it will flip and kill you." i told him she meant it and was psychic. he went on an unnecessary trip the next day at the insistence of another friend.. it flipped and killed him on the way back.

28. When the Phone Rings ...
It happens that my phone number is one digit away from a popular local business, but somehow I always know when the call is for me. I've never thought to explain it, and if I work at it I'll probably guess wrong.

I usually know who it is before I pick up. I can't even remember the last time I was surprised. I just say, Oh, that's Donald. I wonder what he wants. Of course, if I were really psychic, I'd know.

Edited on Sun Aug-10-03 01:37 AM by LeftCoast
We are quickly coming up on the anniversary of September 11th. I think it is only natural to have some severe feelings of anxiety as we get closer and closer to this date. I noticed it last year around the same time.

I hope that's all it is. Group hug to all.

On edit: Wanted to add that I firmly believe in precognition, having experienced it personally several times...
