Stolen tanker trucks
ok, the other week I read a thread about a stolen tanker truck in PA. Then the other day on Faux News there was a stolen tanker from NJ. Is anyone paying attention to this?

1. I heard about it
but you know the media, they report on most things for a total of 30 seconds and then it disappears from the news. There is no more "investigative journalism".

2. I did a search and
came up with one from Pennsauker in New Jersey so it is probably the same one - perhaps mistook the Pennsauker for PA?
9000 gallon tanker taken april 8th or 9th (2 days before workers noticed it was missing!) The report dated 4/20 said NJ and fed officials were still looking for it, and they gave a photo and license plate number (like whoever took it wouldn't change the plate?)

3. I wonder if these are merely simple thefts. . .
Tanker trucks have been disappearing in the news since the September 11 attacks. Were they disappearing before the attacks? I imagine so. Theft of large vehicles and heavy equipment has been going on since they were first introduced. A friend of mine had a grader stolen from a construction site. Vehicles are hijacked everyday. I imagine an enterprising thief could get a handsome purse for a tanker full of stolen fuel. There are plenty of private underground tanks and fueling pumps in any metropolis -- and dotted about the countryside, too -- tanks where few questions would be asked about a tanker's manifest.

Is it terrorists? Well, yeah, if you're definition of "terrorist" stretches to include industrial sabotage and theft.
