Roy Moore's potential party: The Constitutional Party
They have an extensive platform found here:

http://www.constitutionparty.com/party_platform.php#Preamble

Preamble

We, the members of the Constitution Party, gratefully acknowledge the blessing of the Lord God as Creator, Preserver and Ruler of the Universe and of this Nation. We solemnly declare that the foundation of our political position and moving principle of our political activity is our full submission and unshakable faith in our Savior and Redeemer, our Lord Jesus Christ. We hereby appeal to Him for mercy, aid, comfort, guidance and the protection of His Divine Providence as we work to restore and preserve this Nation as a government of the People, by the People, and for the People.

The U.S. Constitution established a Republic under God, rather than a democracy.

Our Republic is a nation governed by a Constitution that is rooted in Biblical law, administered by representatives who are Constitutionally elected by the citizens.

In a Republic governed by Constitutional law rooted in Biblical law, all Life, Liberty and Property are protected because law rules.

We affirm the principles of inherent individual rights upon which these United States of America were founded:

That each individual is endowed by his Creator with certain unalienable rights;
that among these are the rights to Life, Liberty, Property and the Pursuit of the individual’s personal interest;
That the freedom to own, use, exchange, control, protect, and freely dispose of Property is a natural, necessary and inseparable extension of the individual’s unalienable rights;
That the legitimate function of government is to secure these rights through the preservation of domestic tranquility, the maintenance of a strong national defense, and the promotion of equal justice for all;
That history makes clear that left unchecked, it is the nature of government to usurp the liberty of its citizens and eventually become a major violator of the people’s rights;
and That, therefore, it is essential to bind government with the chains of the Constitution and carefully divide and jealously limit government powers to those assigned by the consent of the governed.
The Constitution Party calls on all who love Liberty and value their inherent rights to join with us in the pursuit of these goals and in the restoration of these founding principles. We speak for Americans: hardworking, productive, taxpaying men and women who constitute the backbone and the heart of the American Republic and its economy.

These are the producers; these are the ones who should be "first considered and always remembered." It is on their backs that government is carried, and it is out of their pockets that government is financed. Without them and without the product of their skills and their labors, there would be no source to fund the legitimate functions of government nor would there be charity to support the private institutions helping those in need.

No nation can survive if it fails to honorably address the problems which concern these citizens. To these productive but generally forgotten Americans, we offer this platform. It responds to their desires; it is the voice that speaks of them and for them, as does that of no other political party.

MAJOR SNIPPAGE!

=========================================================

So basically, the wacko christians with a small c believe that they have an inalienable right to 'stuff' and the acquisitions thereof. Sounds like Ferengi to me.

8. think of it as an "evening constitutional"
You know, sort of a mind-clearing and directionless ambling around the neighborhood to while away the time.

Just, yikes.

Seriously.

So, they want a theocracy and not a democracy.

At least they are honest.

Damn.

9. What Others Say:The Bush Cover Up
April 17, 2004

http://www.peroutka2004.com/schedule/index.php?action=eventview&event_id=125

--Several days ago we received this e-mail.

I just happened to come across your website. I am a conservative Republican.

I started reading where Peroutka stood on the issues. I was blown away at his conviction on the issue of abortion. He had the passion I have been looking for on the greatest moral issue of our time.

I have three Bush stickers on my jeep as of now. I need to read more on his website before I make a decision on who to support.

It is great to see a candidate who is standing by the Constitution and not compromising.

Thank You for your time. God Bless.

--12 hours later we received a follow up e-mail.

I sent you an e-mail praising Mr. Peroutka yesterday. I said that I needed some time to think about who I should vote for.

It took only one day to realize Mr. Peroutka should be our next President.

I reviewed everything in his website and came to the conclusion that I would be doing this country a dis-service if I did not vote for Mr. Peroutka.

I thank you for running. I can go into the polls on election day and vote for someone who has principles and morality.

If there is anything I can do for your campaign, please let me know.

- Several days later, after receiving their Official Peroutka Campaign Pack

5. should be called the anti-Constitutional Party
But I support Moore's potential run this year, but like the Bush v. Gore decision, this should not set a precedent.

11. Dont be scared of those cooks...
They are the Ralph Nader to the Republican Party. They would divide the party greatly losing many votes for Bush. And anyways how is Bush all that different?

16. Damn! They are wackos and chefs as well!
Amazing!

:D - sorry, had to fun ya with the cooks line.

I agree - a Moore run under this party's heading would pull a great number of Bush supporters away. Just in Alabama alone, Kerry would win the entire state if Moore was in the field. Some 40+ percent of voters voted for Gore, Moore would take away 20% of Bush votes in Alabama leaving the state for the Dems.

Mississippi and Georgia would also become Blue States.

The Constitution Party has its convention in June. Now that Moore has exhausted his appeals to get back on the bench, don't be surprised if you see him moving toward a Presidential run.

12. Calling it The Constitutional Party is either ironic or duplicitous.
Edited on Tue May-04-04 07:35 AM by no_hypocrisy
Sort of like the Hitler's Brown Shirt base calling itself the German Workers' Socialist Party (nothing beneficial for German, workers or socialists), hence the acronym "Nazi" for Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei.

13. Want your eyes opened?
I posted this is another thread about a week ago and got very little response.

Here is the selected vice-president of the constitution party.

http://www.constitutionparty.com/news.php?aid=98

And this is the website of the selected vp. Notice what is waving proudly on the page. Please look.

http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/

Also notice that the "distinguished" vp is writing his own interpretation of U.S. History.

This is from the same town that has the creationist theme park for which I can not seem to find the thread here at DU that was talked about during the week-end.

I hope that do a lot of advertising, it could really help here in Florida if they pulled a lot of votes.

Will Roy Moore crack the Bush base?
The "Ten Commandments Judge" is mulling a run for president from the right. Even his conservative admirers say he probably can't damage Bush -- but they hope he doesn't try.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
By Fred Clarkson

May 4, 2004 | Alabama's renegade Chief Justice Roy Moore was already the darling of the far right when he rallied cheering supporters on the steps of the state courthouse last August. Nationally known as the "Ten Commandments Judge," Moore had installed a 5,280-pound granite sculpture of an open book inscribed with the commandments shortly after he was elected in 2001, and then defied a federal court order to remove it. Observers couldn't help being reminded of Gov. George Wallace's infamous stand in the schoolhouse door, rallying Alabama segregationists in defiance of a federal court order to integrate the University of Alabama.

Now, almost everywhere Moore goes, people ask him to do something else Wallace did: run for president.

The possibility that Roy Moore could challenge President Bush in November may not be costing Karl Rove any sleep -- yet. But the chance that the popular conservative judge could do to Bush what Ralph Nader did to Al Gore in 2000 -- split his ideological base, and cost him the presidency -- has analysts crunching numbers and weighing Moore's chances. Moore and his spokeswoman did not return telephone and e-mail messages from Salon, but Moore's public statements have been consistent in recent months. He is keeping his options open, he says, and he will decide if he will run when he has exhausted his court appeals in the Ten Commandments case.
