3. NYU ME studies guy -
In widely illiterate world, the pictures will have the great effect.

Humiliation, particularly of Arab males in this way, is playing directly into UBL's agitprop.

Hersh saying Marines are bigtime pissed at Army over Fallujah and prisons.

4. Its an incredible segment. Robert Baer former CIA, Sy Hersh, and
Professor of ME studies. Said the story is worse than we know and all of them were visibly upset about it. They seemed to blame the female general the most which was surprising.

I got the feeling they thought this would connect to "Gitmo" and Afghanistan and be a huge scandal for the Army and the Contractors. They said they thought we would have to leave Iraq because of the scandal it's so huge. Rose asked how soon and I think one of them said before 2005.

Sy Hersh said, "stay tuned."

7. That was June 30 that was in doubt...
the take that came thru here was that the US forces were going to have to be out sooner rather than later as far as June 30 was concerned & he said that a 2005 election watched over by the Americas was not going to happen.

5. WOW, there is a wing for women & another for juveniles.

Sy Hersh, finished by confirming that there was a separate wing of women & another for as Sy said “ get this juveniles”.

As they signed off Sy said, "more to come."

8. Dismal. Dismal.Dismal.
The professor says if there are Iraqi women in the prison, it is all over.

Hersh says there is a whole wing for women and . . . juveniles.

The professor says that is catastrophic. It is all over for us. About ten days ago, there was a mortar/rocket(?) attack on the prison, in which the attackers targeted the inmates. The 'rumor' was that Iraqi women prisoners were being raped and tortured. Death would be preferable under some cultural/religious codes, so the attackers were attempting "mercy killings". The prof said that if this rumor turned out to be true or close, it was the end of the road.

Baer concurred and said it was a pivotal event in the course of the war, and that this would shorten the war/occupation(US).

Hersh said this was like My Lai in that it will erode Shrub's ability to keep the 'middle' people supporting the war, as with Nixon. A limit reached. Hersh said stay tuned for more.

Heads up if your time zone is in the future.

:)

9. Don't forget that there's a repeat at noon tomorrow.
At least that's what they do here (WGBY). Maybe elsewhere too? This is MUST WATCH television.

In a lot of the other Sy Hersh interviews I've seen since the article came out, they didn't cover much beyond what was in the article. This brings out lots of new information, as well as dire forecasts. Very serious, very disturbing.

This is important even neocon propagandist Charlie Rose
sounded a little regretful.

That they got caught mostly.

21. Not that familiar with Charlie Rose. Why do you call him a neocon
propagandist? Seems like he has guests on, asks some questions, pretty quiet, never shouts people down like on Fox etc. True wingnut would never have a panel like this or let the people make these points. He also had one with the Vanity Fair journalists (I think it was about the propaganda runup to the war) and it was an awesome show.

22. He's not a neocon
but there is a cabal of Rose-haters on DU - they'll never forgive him for being an ass to Amy Goodman. Of course he also made a joke out of O'Reilly when he was on the program, but I guess that doesn't matter...

23. He does have a right wing bias, but
it appears that may be due to the fact he was in support of this invasion. Lately he seems not to be leaning so far right.
