the only part i'd adjust a little is the line about "let this be the last great thing you do for this country" something along those lines... let's not put him in the grave yet... he might do many more great things for the country...

I'm not sure which suggestions led to changes, and just recently looked at the text, which seems good, but someone in the other thread mentioned that this phrasing -

"President Carter, we ask that you provide one final great service to your nation:"

- seemed a bit dire. I'd hope his next service might be heading up an investigation of the events leading to the 12/12 disaster.

I must have hit the site just before the change was made. I've sent the link off to a friend who emails progressive content to a large list, and I'll be very interested in seeing how the numbers grow. Also congrats to whoever is responsible for designing such a simple-and-easy petition signing procedure. Some I've seen are a bit awkward or fail when using an obscure browser like the one I have chosen (Mozilla Firebird).

and a few blank records that need to be cleaned up (10 max).

We promised not to share the actual signature data with anyone but President Carter.

I can't remember if we put our city and state in there or not. But if we did...it would be cool to run a list of first name and state or even just "American from ___________. That would be pretty cool.......

Frankly, I think it's important that we promise to keep the other information private.

Not making that statement and following through keeps people from participating. A lot of folks just don't want their private information, even if it's limited, displayed on the internet.

As of now, right below the "Please sign the letter" displays the current count.
