Veep? Who gots the veep?
Edited on Mon May-03-04 04:43 AM by jadedcherub
Democrat John Kerry's campaign has begun background checks of top running mate prospects, including Dick Gephardt, John Edwards and Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack...

The man heading the search, Jim Johnson, has spoken with dozens of party leaders about the process and prospects. Officials who have talked to Johnson said he has expressed interest in Vilsack along with others, including Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana and former Sens. Bob Kerrey of Nebraska and Sam Nunn of Georgia.

6. Because from every account his campaign has never expressed
and inkling whatsoever that he's in the running. I know alot of people who may or may not be in denial about that believe that that is just the master plan reverse psychology of his campaign. To inquire about certain other people and end up picking Clark, and hey I can't prove that wrong. I just think there is too much arguing about something we can't vote on and have very little influence in. Sometime's it seems like arguing about whether comic book characters could beat each other. It's uneventual and very few minds are going to be changed.

I've seen "Edwards/Clark IS going to be vp" a bit too many times.

5. IMHO
Kerry needs a VP that will secure him PA, OH and WV. The presidency this year will be decided by these 3 states with 46 combined electoral votes.

Forget about the south - capturing these 3 and may be NH will be more than enough to put him over the top. He can even lose one or two of the following - OR, WA, WI, MN.

He needs VP that will appeal to the rural voters in these 3 states. Can Edwards do it? May be... Can Gephardt do it? May be... I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Now a thought out of the box. I checked last OH poll. Something that I noticed there - Kerry leads overwhelmingly the 18-29 years old group of voters. Bush and Nader are tied for second in this group with 20% or so of the vote. If Nader polls this well with the young voters, why not chose him?

9. Fuck Nader...... even Mongo would be better.
BYW, Kerry should imply there would be a place for Richard Clark in his Administration should he win in Nov.

10. If he wants to win PA and OH:
Edited on Mon May-03-04 06:50 AM by mdguss
He needs someone who will be good with the soccer Moms in suburban Columbus, Cincinatti (sp?), Cleveland, and the outer suburbs of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. You cannot win those states on the urban areas alone. You have to get at least 40 percent of the vote in the suburbs.

With that in mind: Mark Warner, John Edwards, and Mary Landrieu all make sense. If he picks the Democratic version of Jack Kemp--and I put some of the people on the list in the been around forever category--it'll be bad news.

I make this pledge: if John Kerry picks Ralph Nader to be Vice President, I will not vote for John Kerry.

Nader gets a lot of funding from the(Gasp) Pubs, dats who.

Telling us whot?

That he is an attention whore, he is in it for the attention and the Publicity. Our damn tax money, he qualys because of the Pubs influx... this is known shit and Kerry won't go near Nader.

If I was Nader, I would swing towards being a good Human and offer all votes to Kerry and step aside.

12. So let's see. Choose Nader to maybe get more young voters...
while sacrificing the votes of other voters? Could be a wash. Could be a massacre.

11. My long shot nod goes to Bill Nelson, of FL...
Nelson has a very good engaging demeanor. He is likable, a former astronaut and a southerner.
