think about it -- aside from the "husband" slip, who spends that much time with their boss?

every weekend she is at his side.

she's with him more than his "brain" Rove, and his clean up woman, Karen.

there's something mighty fishy going on there.

look at the pics of him and Laura -- Laura is nothing but a prop, just like barney. He's very uncomfortable with them.

then look at pics of him and Condi -- they look so comfortable together.

1. Maybe that is why Karen Hughes had to leave
to get some distance from the wh - because she had been "displaced"... of course not sure in that scenario how to account for her recent return...

Edited on Sun May-02-04 05:46 PM by noiretblu
sure...it's all missionary position and procreation in public. but i'd conservatives are probably more likely to indulge in what they call sin than the people they are always whining about. i think it's also about a sense of entitlement...like the republicans who were criticizing clinton while their own hands were stuck in the cookie jar.

10. Well, I need more info.
As much as I despise these people, I don't want to consider that of a "successful*" woman just because she has access until there is more solid info out there. We need a pregnancy, a blue dress, or a confidant who will turn on Condi, or a jilted first lady.

*"Successful" as in having attained a position of power. Condi certainly has not been anything close to successful in performance of her duty. Lots of people have died because of her failures.

Instead I recently read an article describing how she still summarizes all of the reports (even the short ones) and briefs him with small sound-bite size snippets of information.

110. Trust me, she is no expert on the Soviet Union
I actually saw this ditz in action. She came to Berlin and was giving all the strategic intel troops in Europe a speech about the Eeeeevil Empire :shudder: and how they were so numerically and militarily superior to our troops, how they had Super Weapons That Could Shoot Through Fifty Feet of Concrete...and all this time, I'm looking over at my guys like "we're talking about the same Soviets, right? The ones we have can't shoot, can't march, are underfed, can't run..." We're passing notes between the Berlin contingent, the Augsburg contingent, the Bad Aibling contingent, the human-intelligence guys, the Spetsnaz analysts...and we all came to the same conclusion: the Soviet Army Condi Rice was working was a hell of a lot better than the one we were.

Finally my colonel looked at me and said, "Jim, I've had about enough of this shit." He actually stood up and said, "Ms. Rice, one question. What are the true-unit designators and honorifics of the units you are describing?" Condi Rice's response was classic: "What is an honorific?" If you do not know what an honorific is you are no expert on the Soviet Army, and Condi Rice didn't know. (We didn't tell her either; we all left at that point.)

All Soviet units had a true-unit designator and an honorific. The TUD was easy enough to understand: your unit is the 1st Guards Army or the 20th Motorized Rifle Division. (The title Guards was awarded at the end of WWII to units who fought with great valor.) Each Soviet unit was organized in honor of a famous communist--maybe you were the 144th "Feliks Dzherzinsky" Guards Artillery Battalion. Feliks Dzherzinsky was your unit's honorific. They'd hang Feliks' picture in your unit dayroom and everything you did was to impress ol' Feliks.

IOW, the colonel was telling Condi to put up or shut up; we knew their guys weren't half as good as Condi was telling us.

Condoleezza Rice was an expert on Ronald Reagan's Soviet Army, the unstoppable bogeyman raised to justify the runaway military spending of the Reagan era. But Reagan's Sovs and my Sovs were two completely different armies. Condi's Sovs were absolute masters of the art of land warfare; my Sovs trained for five months, rotated a quarter of the company, and did the exact same five-month training schedule again. (Later, after reunification I went to a Soviet Army base on an open-house tour and saw a genuine Soviet Army company training schedule. It was painted on a sheet of plywood and bolted to the wall.)

62. I would imagine that Kissenger and Nixon spent a great deal of time
together. The various wars abroad are the most important issue of Bush's Presidency both for him and for us. Can you think of any other issue which demands his attention? While the mess in Iraq is his own making, it is a mess, and I would sincerely hope that he is spending time working on a way to fix it.

Just that it is more than reasonable for them to be working on the issue. Honestly, they have made such a mess that all the choices are bad. At this point, I think that we have to give one more real shot at taming the country and if that doesn't work, we need to go.

72. you are presuming is he is consumed with this
I think that is a big assumption.

After 9-11 and Afghanistan... and after, we now learn, planning for Iraq had begun... Sharon marches his troops into Ramallah were a siege on Arafat's compound begins - over Easter weekend. Bush disappears.. is seen briefly at a press conference where he is slouched down - appearing like the weight of the world is coming down and he is overwhelmed. As many people would be. One would expect that recognizing how inflamatory things are throughout the region - that he would be trying to get up to speed quickly.

But a week or so later one of the Saudi princes representing the State (maybe it was Bandahar) comes to speak to Bush to caution his reaction particularly as it pertains to the Palestinians and more broadly the Arab world. They meet for several hours. In comments to the press the Prince says that they spent most of their time with the Prince explaining the situation (context, history, issues) to Bush because "it is very complex.. and he didn't understand/know much about it" - so he had to "Teach" bush - rather than spend time on policy implications as would have been the case if Bush had been briefed.

Time after time there have been indications that bush continues to take his job lightly - in terms of being too lazy to read security briefings (didn't read the NIE memo that concluded the Niger info was wrong, didn't read the 1 1/2 page August 6 CIA memo even though the "noise" from intel suggested something big was being planned by Al Qeada. TIme after time there are reports after he meets with foreign leaders that indicate that he didn't know the basics about the issues being discussed or about the country whose leader he was meeting with.

I am appalled that the reports continue. An article in either newsweek or on MSNBC.com highlighting Condi's devotion and relationsihp with bush - highlights how she condenses all of the security briefings into little understandable consumable nuggets (he can't/won't read even short 10 page reports?!?!?!)... this was recent. An attack on the US soil hasn't changed this, sending US soldiers to war hasn't changed this, the war going wrong hasn't changed this.

Your explanation might ring true were he known to pour over the issues and remain emersed/engaged in them. But there is no indication in the public record that this is the case, and indeed there is public information that suggests the opposite is true.

82. again - she would be there to talk to him about the issues
and thus he would have a clue. But he doesn't. So the time isn't spent on national security. I believe, in the context of the Tenet testimony before the 9-11 commission, that either tenet or Condi said that bush was briefed on national security issues (in total - not just by Condi or by Tenet) about three to four hours... A WEEK. So their spending time together isn't on national security issues.

Only otherway this would work is if it was so she could cover when speaking to the pres (ergo she has to be along for that function) but he doesn't speak to the press other than wave - and thus isn't asked about national security and thus doesn't need her to answer for him.

I don't think there is an affair going on - but I do think something very unhealthy is going on in the relationship. Could be that she is there so much of the time as sort of a sycophantish security blanket... or maybe b/c she is perceived as smart she is kept around so frequently to agree with him/validate him so he can be more confident (that he doesn't have a clue and is WAY over his head, both of which are actually true).

who could make love to this wax figure who obviously thinks she should dress as if she were the age of her daughters. Hmm--maybe she thinks she is in competition with them--in fact they all look like pathetic JoAnn fabrics misfits.

eeeee gads--what on earth can this woman see when she looks into the mirror

We have a gargantuan, mega, necklace that looks as though it weighs fifty pounds and is made of the aggie marbles that kids play with, and we have the unsightly vision of her mottled, sun exposed, brown flecked chest flesh--and no one is supposed to notice this aging skin, pre cancerous factor on this woman who thinks she must look as though she is twenty? Does she not see how distasteful that is? Who the hell wants to look at this old aged, sun exposed chest? Her eye lift is also crooked and she always looks crosseyed.

Ugh--I would not blame George for calling her a lump. She acts and dresses like one. On the other hand the condi can never look pleasant either. She is always angry looking.

Here she is in all her svelt glory. Our first frumpy lumpy sagging in the chest as it meets her waistline in her aging mid-fifties type body, Laura, the first absolutely spoiled and leeching off the tax payers, lady who has never done a thing in her life that is notable, and who is as smart as a box of doorknobs.

And to demonstrate how this woman of no repute whatsoever is being marketed, with her willing consent, here are a couple of other manufactured Lauras--she is being sold as a no nonsense firm advocate who knows what her politics are

Pay attention--this is how is is sold. This is what those who believe everything their "president" says and does are being manipulated

Never ever adore any one person. Always question everything--even those who you think you must adore because the majority of your peers also adores him or her and you think you must have the respect of your peers, so you will also cheer on someone whom you have not really investigated

Here she is--the mahnufactured, never did a thing in her life, first frump in her various poses that would make it seem as if indeed, she is really an intelligent woman who is a woman in her own right'

Blegh--she is a Stepford wife, every inch of the way and probably George cannot stand her dependance, her stupidity and her passivity.

They are just too comfortable together. Look at the way Condi defends him. She doesn't defend him like a one would defend a boss. She defends Bush like he's her man. Condi seriously would take the fall for Bush. Notice that her testimony before the 911 commission. She basically made herself out to be a stupid broad totally out of her league as the national security advisor. Now she ain't the brightest, but she's not that stupid, either. 125. Condi is "very fond" of bu$h* - quotes a Repug
The Bush family repays the loyalty of its acolytes. "She's very fond of the president, and he's very fond of her," said a senior Republican who knows her well. But he added: "She tends to be an impatient person and will certainly not stay on for four more years if the president wins re-election. She likes new challenges."

http://www.guardian.co.uk/september11/story/0,11209,1178312,00.html

After her testimony before the 9/11 commission, I really started to wonder about the two. I was on the phone with my best friend and asked, "Is Bush f--king Condi?" My husband looked over at me - shocked that I would say that (okay, not exactly ladylike). But I meant it. Then the story came out about her "slip of the tongue" huband deal.

I demand "test for fluids in their underpants!"

Okay, we actually have seven tidbits here.

1. Condi spends a lot of weekends and holidays with Bush. I've not seen a photo of her with a date or even an escort.

2. Article says she said "husb--" at a dinner party with journalists present, then corrected herself to "President Bush."

3. The plastic turkey trip to Iraq last Thanksgiving. I don't have this one handy, but there was a reference to something like Condi and George pulling baseball caps on, trying to get away unobserved, "looking like any other couple". I think Condi said it.

4. Someone at DU posted Blementhal's wording in Salon:
"Single and single-minded in her devotion, she is among his most intimate aides, accompanying him and the first lady on their weekends to Camp David."
DU poster wrote: The wording is very suggestive and Blumenthal is careful about his wording.

5. As to the 9-11 Commission, they fought tooth and nail to keep Condi from testifying. They kept claiming their conversations were privileged. (Almost ... like a husband/wife privilege.)

6. The Aaron McGruder cartoon series (Boondocks), which asked who would Condi date? What kind of man or woman? It was quite persistent, went on and on.

7. Okay, actually, maybe this is the kicker. Look at who didn't run the series. "The Washington Post chose not to run a recent series about national security adviser Condoleezza Rice." --Houston Chronicle, January 19, 2004.

There is a fine article about long standing associations of the WaPost with intell AND Bush. AND Woodward. Check it out. No sex, but plenty of generations of intrigue. "Secret admirers: The Bushes and the Washington Post," by Michael Hasty, Online Journal Contributing Writer

One other DU post -- just gotta repeat it:

"Come on over here, you big neocon hunka burning fascism!!

You rock my world, you born again pseudo-cowboy!"
