10. my elderly hardcore republican father couldn't understand the censoring

of nightline either. although his mind has crystallized and it's very difficult for him to entertain new ideas, he found the censoring of the soldier's names disturbing. he can't understand why they would do that. he also can't understand why they have given jessica lynch all this accolade and yet nothing is said about HER rescuers.

i told him about the african american girl that went through the same thing lynch did and got a big fat goose egg for her efforts. in fact, she's even denied certain vet benefits now that she's back home. i can't recall her name but she's from houston. he's flabbergasted at the disparity.

i've told him already about the bleaching of the war and the pot calling kettle black re: partisan politics. doubt it actually sunk in yet. but i'm not giving up all hope. especially now that i've limited his TV viewing--especially his faux tv nonsense. i make him READ his news instead of watching that crap. he may surprise me yet.
