Max Cleland rocked on Face the Nation!
Edited on Sun May-02-04 01:59 PM by JCMach1
He completely destroyed Rep. 'Hanoi John' Cunningham (R,CA)...

I would definitely support Cleland for VP

Transcript now up!!!

Mr. CLELAND: Well, for those people who did not go to war and then plan a war for other
people to go to like the people in the White House, President Bush, Dick Cheney, Rumsfeld
and Wolfowitz, who never served--Dick Cheney got five deferments. You know, John Kerry
volunteered for Vietnam, as did I. President Bush spent that time guarding the shores of
Texas and then didn't even show up for his final physical in the--in the Guard and got out
eight months early. When you start comparing leadership qualities and people who served
under fire and understand the lessons they've learned over the period of time since the
Vietnam War, it seems to me John Kerry comes out head and shoulders above anybody in the
White House today...

2. He makes Richardson look too sedate
I've been saying this for months. Cleland or Richardson. Max has always had my vote, being a bulldog (what you want in a VP).

Don't forget the disabled American population -- 35 million strong! Would they tend to vote more for a disabled candidate? I bet they would--although the Hispanic bond for Richardson would no doubt be stronger.

3. Yeah, I'd like to see Cleland for VP too
Can you imagine the debate between he and chickenhawk cheney? Just the imagery alone - a greedy, lying coward vs. a true American hero, cheney wouldn't deserve to be on the same stage with Max and I think that would be clear before either of them even spoke.

Not to mention putting GA, and more of the south, into play.

I hope Kerry's considering him.

4. I would love to have Cleland as the VP!
He's a good man, he's intelligent, he's a fighter ... and it would really piss off the "Rob Georgia" crowd!

6. He did very good....
He would make a good Secretary of Defense, imo... He knows what it is like to send young people to fight and die for their country. It would be good if some of the "chickenhawks" had some of that experience.
