Los Angeles freeways shut down this morning (Indy truckers protest gas)

Getting calls from friends and family trying to get from point A to point B. Truckers are apparently parking their trucks in the middle of the freeways and leaving them there to protest gas costs. Almost all SO Cal freeways are shut down. My sister said people are getting out of their cars and standing in the middle of freeways in LA this AM.

Any other So Cal DUer's deal with this so far?

Ah, the general strike... a French import long overdue.

Heh heh, that almost makes it acceptable to me that our favorite bleu cheese cannot be imported anymore because of the Patriot Act and need to protect the homeland. Guess it is a bit harder to prevent the importation of disgust and ideas.

Hope your family all gets where they are going. Surface streets must be a mess.

Edited to add: It these guys really wanna make a point, half should head to DC and half to the pig farm. The major carriers can't be too happy about fuel costs either. How long before there is a =general trucking strike everywhere?

At about 7:30 a.m., about five tractor-trailers stopped in the northbound lanes of the Golden State Freeway in Commerce, 17 miles southeast of downtown, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Antiunion activities mean more and more wildcat strikes as groups of people get fed up and decide to gum up the works as much as they can.
