On the Daily Show tonight, Bob Woodward said George Tenet pronounced the evidence of weapons-of-mass-destruction in Iraq a "slam dunk" at a meeting AFTER his deputy had presented evidence so weak that George W. Bush asked, "Is that all you got?"

What is the name of the deputy?

1. John McLaughlin
"had drawn the short straw to make a presentation to the president and the principals." This was the presentation that Bush responded to with "Nice try--but I don't think Joe Public would understand it."

Thanks, did Bush also say, "is that all you got?" or is that a paraphrase?

4. It's either a paraphrase or
it may have been another conversation. It was after this presentation by McLaughlin, however, that Tenet gave his Slam Dunk remark.

Good book, BTW. Not quite as juicy as Worse than Watergate, which I just finished and fear I might have drooled on the pages where Dean was particularly, and nastily, critical of Bush/Cheney (who he calls the Co-President.)
