Where did Jesus go?
You don't hear anything about The Life of Jesus Christ anymore---his message to the world. The only reference to compassion these days is in reference to republican politicians (wealthy white men who could care less about the poor and downtrodden). The new christian right is not Christian. They are an aberration of likes this world has not seen since the Spanish Inquisition or Nazi Germany. The True Passion of Christ was not about pain and suffering---it is about Love, Forgiveness, and Truth. I ask again where did Jesus go?

1. nowhere man
jesus hasn't gone anywhere. he is still here, it's man that's left his side to wander down the road of hate. he'll be waiting with open arms when we limp back. if we make it.

8. Where did Jesus go?
I think that Jesus is the poor person who has had his/her benefits cut by the bush administration. I think Jesus is sitting in the county jail. I'm sure that Jesus lives within those down-trodden you mentioned. It's curious that on a "progressive" forum, many people think it's a real giggle to insult you for asking a serious question that is important to you. I liked your question.

9. Well said....
... though we need to be careful about over generalizations, though I am about to indulge in one because I see many of these people as sincere, but also emotionally and psychologically insecure. Most dangerous, they are convinced they are "The Chosen" -- which is essentially the same message radical Islamists are preach to their followers.

I spent 15 years in an evangelical Christian-Jewish group, ten as a church pastor and I've seen this before. It takes a ephinany (mine was 25 years ago) for someone in these movements to mature in their understanding of what Jesus' message was really all about. It's my personal view that what Jesus taught was compassion, mercy and an inclusiveness that sees God and our fellow man in broader terms than that professed by narrowly defined, Judeo-Christian-Isalmic teachings.

My wife works for those people, hates her job, and can't find a new one because its gone to India. And on top of it some of my inlaws have been brainwashed by these people.

11. Jesus was one of many teachers.
I think he and Budda, Mohammed, and others are still with us. The problem is we're ignoring them.

On edit I would like to add Ghandi (who studied The Life of Christ) and Martin Luther King.

16. Maybe the new religion should be called "The Teachers".
It would be an open ended theology, incorporating the beliefs of past and present master teachers. A fluid exchange of ideas and ethics would always trump theological rigidity.
