"Why Christians Should Not Vote for George Bush"
From the Judge Roy Moore For President website:

George W. Bush professes to be a Christian, goes to church, makes references to Bible verses, and says, “God bless America,” but so did Bill Clinton, so this alone cannot be sufficient to win the vote of Christian conservatives. Like Clinton, George Bush’s fruit was evident to all with eyes to see during his campaign against Gore. Many Christians were undoubtedly innocently ignorant of George W. Bush’s liberal tendencies and therefore easily susceptible to his conservative rhetoric, but far too many were willfully blind to his bad fruit. Pragmatism took precedence over God’s Word and the principles of conservatism when conservatives the nation over supported and voted for the most electable candidate over the only blessable, anointable candidate, and as you will see in the course of this article, the roots of tyranny have deepened in America as a result. The guilt for the daily encroachment on God-given rights to life, liberty, and property, under President Bush’s leadership, can be laid squarely at the foot of the professing church. If there was ever any doubt about the liberal sway of George W. Bush before his Presidency, that doubt should be well cleared up by now for all but only the willfully naïve.

Do I believe that sincere, well-meaning Christians can vote for George Bush and be right with God? Sure! I believe that a sincere, well-meaning Christian can vote Democratic and be right with God. However, even unintended ignorance can destroy a nation and God’s people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge. (Hosea 6:4) Intentional or malicious ignorance in the absence of the fear of God brings culpability and judgment (Proverbs 9), and of this I fear many professing Christians are guilty in their endorsement of George Bush in spite of the abundance of evidence of his evil fruit.

What is this “evil fruit” to which I refer? Precisely what is it about George W. Bush that I believe should preclude sincere Christians from voting for him?

1. Oh, boy.
That's fantastic. I almost can't believe it's real. (Is it?)

"Many Christians were undoubtedly innocently ignorant of George W. Bush’s liberal tendencies and therefore easily susceptible to his conservative rhetoric"

I can't even begin to imagine a mind that could produce that statement.

3. Christians shouldn't vote for Bush*
because he's a genocidal mass murderer, a serial liar, and a megalomaniac. "Judge" Moore isn't much better.

5. Rev. Joseph C. Hough on 'NOW'

Bill Moyers Interviews Union Theological Seminary's Joseph Hough

Bill Moyers talks to Joseph C. Hough on the intersection of politics and religion, and why he thinks it is the duty of Christians, Jews and Muslims to join to fight growing economic inequality, why he’s critical of how some political pundits are using Christianity to justify their actions, and why he suspects that the time for a non-destructive, civil disobedience may be near.

Broadcast on Friday, October 24, 2003 by NOW with Bill Moyers

HOUGH: Well, my perception, Bill, is that there is a definite intentional move on the part of political leadership in this country. In the direction that I think is not at all compatible with the prophetic tradition in Islam, Christianity, or Judaism. And that is the obligation on the part of people who believe in God to care for the least and the poorest. That central teaching, that sacred code, I think, is very well summed up in Proverbs where the writer of Proverbs says, "Those who oppress the needy insult their maker."

And I think that it would be a wonderful thing if we could stand together, these three great Abrahamic traditions, and say, "Look, we do not countenance this sort of thing. It is not only unfair, it is immoral on the basis of our religious traditions, and we believe it's an insult to God."

p.s. Hough's opinions of why Christians and those of other faiths need to reexamine their political positions are, to put it lightly, less psychotic or manipulative than those of the thread's original article.

You know, I don't really even believe in God, but that's one of the most poignant statements I've read in a long while. I wish more Christians would see the truth in those few beautiful words.

9. PBS Radio today had part of Bush/Jesus Factor....
The rich so called christian born again oil men from Texas, are the ones behind this bush/jesus bullshit. The full program will be televised tonight on PBS TV. Included amond the born again christian deceivers is non other than Karl Rove. The way they planned the Iraq war a long time ago, they also planned the bush presidency by using christianity and their jesus. Born again are upperly supremists, they are born again while the rest of the world is born only once. Their strategy worked. How can anyone question christianity? They already have my foking Pope on their side.

I don't know but the last antiChrist was Jim Jones, who led all those people to their death in the 70s. He forced them to drink poisioned koolaid so that they could get to heaven...whatever the bullshit that crazy bastard told the dumb people. I'm sure bush is saying to his christians that our soldiers are dying for his jesus.

Their whole war is a religious crusade against anyone who is not born again. What was that saying....they came for them, I did nothing, etc. Hope the catholics and Jews wake up and smell the koolaid.

12. "God-given rights to life, liberty
and property." Pfftt. These are rights we, the people, have given to ourselves. And really, in the grand scheme of things, bestowed only recently. What about the souls who lived or are currently living without these rights? Is America responsible for everyone the world over? Where are these words or ideals in the Bible?

15. The idea is that
We are born with the "inalienable rights to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness."

No human has the right to infringe upon those rights and our forefathers created the Constitution to protect our rights and prevent that from happening.

It works whether you believe that God bestowed those rights or if you believe that we inherently have them when we are born (strictly humanistically speaking.)

but on the other, he is just one scary dude and I'd hate to find out how many folks actually support him! *l*

Would Jesus love a liberal? You bet!
