Arnold Pulls National Guard off of Guarding the Golden Gate Bridge
It's to save money. Now, tell me again how the Republicans are positive that terrorists are going to strike before the elections. Tell me about the threat in LA right now about a strike on malls. Have George tell me again how we are positively going to get hit soon. Didn't Arnold get the memo?? Ahhhh, but saving money---now that's the most important thing. Gonna cost a hell of a lot more bucks to have to glue that bridge back together again, Arnold, if your great leader is correct. But then think of all the 'contractors' who will do it for billions and billions and billions. Ever heard of the old "a stitch in time"?? I'm sure Haliburton wouldn't mind the no bid contract for that. Yep, republicans protecting America.

2. Ohhhh shit! LIHOP #2 is Golden Gate
(maybe, I am not saying I am 100% certain or anything)

But the Busheviks HATE San Franscisco with the same intensity and loathing as the Taliban do. We know they are murderous and would sacrifice American lives to further their political aims.

I think Pete Wilson (who may not even know why he) was ordered by his Bushevik Masters to order Imperial Gouvernor Ahnold to Stand Down.

Christ that's SOOOOO 9-10! I always thought the Busheviks would LIHOP or MIHOP San Francisco next.

Now I am VERY sure. And it may come soon, though probably the LIHOP/MIHOP is going to wait to give enough of a time lapse to provide Ahnold and Pete with "plausible deniability" although I strongly suspect that they weren't told of The Plan anyway.

Bad times for San Francisco ahead, very probably. The Busheviks know, as the nazis knew before them, that a Beloved National Icon being detsroyed is so much more traumatizing and thus in keeping with their purposes of permanently seizing America.

God, I'm very sacred for San Francisco now. What time frame will the Busheviks choose for their first of two October Surprises?

It sounds like withing 3-4 months, but not before.

Then Raygun will conveniently die and Corproate TV Pravda will put the Old Lying Soviet Funerals to shame, 24/7.

The California National Guard is standing down Friday from the Golden Gate Bridge, where guards wearing camouflage and carrying assault weapons have been patrolling since Sept. 11, 2001.

The decision, approved by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, was not based on cost -- $5.2 million a year -- nor the need to deploy the guards elsewhere, said Gary Winuk, chief deputy director of the California Office of Homeland Security. "The guard mission was always temporary in nature."

Uh-huh....sure. I ride across that bridge twice a day; I'm not too keen on this switcheroo.

Calif. Governor Pulls Troops from Golden Gate Bridge
Wed Apr 28, 2004 04:53 PM ET

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has ordered the California National Guard to pull its troops guarding the Golden Gate Bridge, a $5 million cost-cutting move that puts pressure on local authorities protecting the span, a bridge official said on Wednesday.

The decision upset Golden Gate Bridge officials who said the rotating contingent of 50 troops have played an important role in guarding the span considered a prime target following the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

Mary Currie, a spokeswoman for the agency that owns and operates the famed bridge that draws tens of thousands of tourists each year, said the Republican governor's administration cited cost-cutting as a reason. "We are definitely not happy with it," Currie said. "For 2 1/2 years they were an integral part of our security on the bridge." California's homeland security officials could not be reached for comment on the decision but Schwarzenegger has repeatedly said the federal government should contribute more money toward the state's security costs.

Currie said the four agencies charged with patrolling the popular tourist site would make up the slack but she acknowledged they all were struggling with tight budgets. "Having the guard go puts more bearing on the other agencies, especially with the budget troubles everybody has been having," Currie said. "It is a critical assignment."

7. The GGB doesn't make a very feasible target. In thinking like a crook
or like an alleged terrorist.... not a lot would be gained by blowing up a commuter bridge.

Loss of life? Minimal. Even at rush hour, a couple thousand at best. Reconstruction? A couple of months... inconvenience? Sure, but not a whole heckuva lot. Ferries can be managed.

When the eq hit the Nimitz freeway, SF managed pretty well, with a minimal loss of life, even during rush hour there.

Not a target worth hitting.

Now, on the other hand... several well-timed, well placed bombs at critical high rises in downtown SF would indeed cause serious mayhem.

See, you have to make it WORTH YOUR WHILE. Blowing up a bridge that can easily be repaired in a short time? Why bother?

Remember, no one ever took credit for the WTC, not even bin laden.

Crooks like CREDIT, they like glory. GGB connects a sleepy suburb to a city, BFD.

Now, the OAKLAND bridge, that's another story altogether.
