Who the hell is Jayson Williams?
Scott "Fatboy" McClellan is doing a press conference, and everybody cuts away to cover this. Some dude killed somebody and it's more important than the President and VP lying behind closed doors?

I don't get it.

Geez, is somebody getting their driveway repaved somewhere?

3. I'm not sure
He's some sort of sports figure... basketball, maybe?... He shot someone... his housekeeper? Chauffeur?

If I were interested, I guess I could research it... but I'm not.

Wait, was that a rhetorical question?

5. Nope, not rhetorical. I just went and did a search
and he was a basketball player. Man, this completely flew under my radar (Hey, I was like NORAD on 9/11!).

Anyway, it seemed fishy at first, but I guess if this was a famous NBA guy, it's legit news.

:eyes:

Oh, thanks for the info, folks!

4. That's why you gotta watch the press conference stuff at the WH web site
They have a link for video and audio, and they don't cut away (obviously).

I am on a dial-up, so I use the audio stream and it works pretty well.

11. The White House web site...
here: www.whitehouse.gov

Click on "press briefings" on the left-hand side for the archive, but the one currently going on (if it hasn't ended yet) will be on the main page.

13. No Prob. The gov't sites have all sorts of interesting stuff...
For example: I didn't know that the DoD had press briefings as often as they did. They don't get a lot of press, but if you go to http://www.defense.gov/transcripts/ you can see all the transcripts of Rummy, Wolfie, and others both in briefings and in the media.

Interesting stuff...

The weirdest thing is that they have all these hi-rez photos of Rummy. He's a weird guy, and seeing REALLY big pictures of him just exaggerates his weirdness (IMHO).

6. Jayson Williams is ...
... former NJ Nets Basketball player who wound up shooting his limo driver after he got drunk & started to screw around with the loaded shotguns in his bedroom. After he killed him he tried to cover it up.
Now he's on trial...or is it over...gotta go !

7. According to ESPN @ 2:55 pm 4/29/04
Edited on Thu Apr-29-04 02:01 PM by AJ BENDER
Jury has reached a verdict on 5 charges and are split on 2...The judge orders them to continue deliberations.

You should have fessed up when you had the chance Jason...enjoy your stay in jail !

Dumb asshole has a long history of abusing weapons...wrote about it in his book "Loose Balls" & rumor has it he once shot & killed his mastiff because it pissed him off.(Actually this incident is true but the Judge would'nt allow it into evidence)

10. Some info....
Jayson Williams was a good center for the NJ Nets and was loved by the sport writers because he was a quote machine alah Charles Barkley. He broke his leg and basically had to retire.

2 years ago he had a party and while drunk and showing off one of his shotguns, it went off killing his limo driver. He then attempted to cover up the shooting along with other and claimed the limo driver committed suicide.

Apparently the jury has reached verdicts in his trial.

Here's a synapsis

14. A gorgeous, rich idiot! What a dolt! Gorgeous man, living in mansion...

The world is his oyster.. But he likes to play with guns like they're toys... He "accidentally" caps his limo driver in his chest in his bedroom... I have no idea why the driver was in his bedroom.. I really don't know what went down in that bedroom. I know that it's a shame that Jayson who had everything going for him killed this man. Sounds to me like Jayson needs a little time away to consider his actions.
