An Iraqi civilian has died and another was injured following an explosion in an Iraqi town north of Baghdad.

The bomb detonated as US occupation forces were patrolling Baquba, 65km north of the capital, on Thursday.

Witnesses said there were numerous American casualties, but could not say if the troops were dead or injured.
