Randi Rhodes opened my eyes
Edited on Mon Apr-26-04 04:20 PM by freeminder
In the weekend, I listened to Randi's show of friday the 23rd archived (without any breaks I might add!) here.

One of the subjects was The Carlyle Group. She pointed towards this documentary at http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article3995.htm which was pretty revealing to me: I knew Carlyle benefits from the war, but I was unaware that Bush Sr. is on their payroll for example, or that the Saudi's invested heavily the struggling Citigroup as a kind of payback for Bush Sr. first gulf war.

It would even seem this documentary was made by a dutch news show, and I hadn't even heard of it, being a belgian. Imagine this going from them to Randi and then back to me. Pretty funny testimony to my ignorance. I'm sure Carlyle has been dissected on DU, but I wasn't around to see it yet.

She also expanded on the Venell corporation (owned by Carlyle) training the Saudi National Guard, and how this (and US bases) infuriated Bin Laden.

In short, she laid out the House of Bush/House of Saud relationship for all to see. If this isn't the MIC Eisenhower warned against, nothing is. She spoke about this with Charlie Rangel, living proof not all democrats are asleep at the wheel.

BUT the main reason why I post this, is because even though I still miss Mike Malloy, I finally and definitely warmed to Randi.

Why? Because after cutting short a caller whom she basically agreed with re the Bush* administration, she explained that she goes crazy when people do not realise that they, sorry WE, have got the POWER to change things NOW.

"Quit whining and act now" - that rang true with me.

So a big :loveya: to Randi, and I'd recommend this particular show and the carlyle documentary to anyone.

6. I'm gonna get me House of Bush, House of Saud
I remember my dad, being interested in history, reading about the house of Saud 15 years ago and telling me about it.

Craig unger was also on this show, like I said I've heard good ones but this one was great.

7. Love Randi
Some people can't take her manner, but she knows what she's doing. That's how she got to where she is.

I couldn't agree more. She a shrewd operator who clearly has a goal with her show, and that goal isn't to serve her own purposes, or at least that's how it feels.

She kicks ass imho, and to do that she occasionally kicks ass.

8. nobody can rant like Randi
I find if I miss her show I have to get my hit somehow--late night on the Internet, by tape or whatever.

I heard that particular show and agree it was very informative. Does anyone remember the name of the Saudi prince she talked about who ha bought up so many businesses in the U.S.?

I'd like to read a little further on him.

13. "I have to get my hit somehow" & some Saudi's
Edited on Mon Apr-26-04 04:52 PM by freeminder
that's exactly how I ended up listening to her for 3 hours on a sunday night :o

She mentioned also that Shafeed (?) Bin Laden (brother of) was in a meeting with Bush Sr on 9/11 watching events unfold, and Salem Bin Laden participated in junior's Harken Oil.

I'm looking through http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/binladen/who/family.html this who's who, pretty complicated if you ask me.

About your question, I think Randi was speaking about the Kingdom Holding Company, recently heavily airing ads on CNN, as buying large intrests in US businesses. I think she was speaking about "His Royal Highness Prince Walid bin talal bin Abdel Aziz Al Saud" which you can find here: http://www.arabdecision.org/show_cv_3_11_12_1_3_577722446.htm

11. I really like Randi's approach
she is not ranting with frivolus, wild accusations. She does know the facts. I like her blunt and frank approach. It is refreshing to me.
