Anybody see Joe Leiberman on "Inside Politics" with Judy Woldruff?
Woldruff introduces him and gives him the floor. He goes on a short, honorable speech - the peace-loving let's-just-be-friends banter that we're always pleased to hear from Leiberman. He says that the war in Iraq, in the upcoming 6 months, is in its most critical phase, and could either be successfully accomplished or failed completely. He says that Democrats and Republicans should call a truce on the particulars of Iraq and focus on getting the job done so our troops can return. He demands that the partisan bickering should come to a halt (and no, he did not point any fingers).
Completely classy of the guy. But Woldruff interrupts him on several occasions with rude questions that defeat Leiberman's purpose of appearing on the show.
Leiberman is talking about the two parties coming to a rhetoric ceasefire on Iraq, yet Woldruff asks him "Kerry has said this about Bush, what do you think?" Leiberman tries to fight off the question, demanding that both parties stop bickering over Iraq and just get the job done.
But Woldruff continues pressing questions like "This is what the Republicans say about you - what do you think?"
LISTEN, JUDY: LEIBERMAN DID NOT SHOW UP TO FUEL THE PARTISAN FIRE.
HE SHOWED UP TO DIFFUSE IT.
God, such a wonderful effort by Leiberman (to get our parties to stop undermining the efforts in Iraq with constant flame wars), yet his point gets dismissed by Woldruff, who I can only assume thought Leiberman's message wasn't "spicy" enough.
God bless you, Joseph. You keep fighting the good fight.
