Oh, excuse me, I forgot.

"I don't testify." - GWB

Georgie is SUCH a WEENIE that he can't "share his views" without his boss Dick Cheney along to hold his hand. It must just EAT at him to be such a LOSER in front of the WHOLE WORLD.

Dear George - THIS is history. You will go down in history (YES, even BEFORE we are all dead) as the COWARD who couldn't face the 9/11 panel alone. You sent CONDI in by herself, but YOU need a handholder. I ALMOST feel sorry for you.

Joint Appearance Stirs Speculation
Some Say Bush, Cheney Want One Story

By Dana Milbank
Washington Post Staff Writer
Sunday, April 25, 2004; Page A05

Chairman Thomas H. Kean, asked at a news conference a few weeks ago about the White House's requirement that President Bush and Vice President Cheney appear together before his commission on the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, quipped: "Well, we recognize that Mr. Bush may help Mr. Cheney with some of the answers."

Kean's remark sparked laughter among the assembled reporters because it turned upside down the assumption of the question, and of much of official Washington: that the White House requested the joint appearance, scheduled for Thursday, so Cheney could coach Bush on his answers. While Bush has declined to explain the rationale for the joint meeting, Democrats charge that Cheney would be a "ventriloquist," and even a number of independent observers say it appears that the two men are trying to keep their stories straight. <more>

14. "If the President has nothing to hide, why is he hiding?"
"This may be the trashiest moment in American presidential history, this whole sleazy story. It's pretty ugly," Bennett said. "And not to say anything about crookedness, if there's lying under oath, if there's perjury, indeed, if there's lying to the American people, which, I think, a lot of people believe is what's going on."

Bennett, whose brother Robert is Clinton's lawyer, said of the president's denial: "I do not believe the president. I mean, I live in the real world. If the president has nothing to hide, why is he hiding?" - Wm. Bennett, 2/1/1998

The only problem is he's oblivious to his own shortcomings. He's never in his life been forced to recognize his own mistakes. To him they aren't mistakes they are bad luck or someone else's fault. If he had the ability to feel humiliation he would have resigned already.

21. Chimpy and the Brain
They'll testify together so the story remains the same. Pure and simple.

This shouldn't be allowed but, then, I don't expect much, if anything, to come from this commission.

All history books will tell is that the commission took place and that Bush and Cheney did appear before it.

Unless Bush/Cheney takes a hard fall from power...history will be far kinder than Bush Inc deserves. Sad fact is, America's history is sugar-coated and that any interpretation other than that presented in sanitized history books will be considered "speculation" and..dare I say.."revisionism"

Yeah, the truth will be out there..hell, it always has been....but that won't change how history is written unless America makes Bush Inc pay, and pay dearly, for what they have done.

From the article:

Bruce Fein, who served in the Justice Department during the Reagan administration and on the Republican staff of the congressional Iran-Contra investigation, said such an arrangement has both constitutional and investigative flaws. "A joint appearance sabotages the idea of a unitary executive -- the `buck stops here' attitude of Harry Truman -- by enabling Bush to shift blame or accountability to Cheney when politically expedient."

In investigations such as Iran-Contra, Fein said, "customary legal rules require sequestration of witnesses in depositions and at trial to avoid tailoring the truth to avoid inconsistencies."

As you've documented here for three years now, Stephanie: The unelected moron testifying under oath would be the ADULT thing to do. But, bush is not much of anything other than "basically, a media creation*" the smirking sociopath described himself to be, way back when.

Keep spreading the word, everyDUer. The American people -- the vast majority of the American people -- are good people and can't tolerate liars, thieves and crooks -- nor murderers.

* A description attributed to Bush himself in 1989 seems apt. The Houston Chronicle reported Bush telling a friend: "You know, I could run for governor, but I'm basically a media creation. I've never done anything. I've worked for my dad. I worked in the oil business ..."

That's exactly what those two are, I can't believe that the media is letting up on this one. This is Kerry's ticket to continue to embarrass Bush and shake up his credibility, his lack of leadership skills, his stance on God, why won't he swear under oath, and shine a spotlight on his cowardice by hiding behind Condi, a women (I think)and holding hands with Cheney.

Come on Kerry...This is pure GOLD...forget about the AWOL thing...we have plenty of time for that, but this is going on right now! Embarrass Bush, press him for answers on why he refuses to explain his stubborn condition to go against the wishes of the 9/11 committee, and ONLY testify with Cheney? Ask those questions we all wish the press would do..."What are you hiding? Are you collaborating stories?"

Bush, Cheney Prepare for 9/11 Questioning
By Mike Allen and Dana Milbank
Washington Post Staff Writers
Wednesday, April 28, 2004; Page A08

President Bush has met with White House aides and has been consulting with Vice President Cheney in preparation for Bush and Cheney's appearance before the Sept. 11 commission tomorrow morning, administration officials said yesterday.
Computer Associates

White House press secretary Scott McClellan said Bush's aides have decided not to allow a recording or make a transcription of the appearance, in part because of the classified information that will be discussed. The 10-member commission will be allowed to have one staff member present to take notes.

The decision, following a practice President Ronald Reagan used in 1987 when appearing before a commission probing the Iran-contra matter, removes the possibility that the transcript would become a political issue and precludes any subpoena.

White House counsel Alberto R. Gonzales and another lawyer from the counsel's office, who will take notes, will appear with Bush and Cheney, officials said. Commission interviews with former president Bill Clinton and vice president Al Gore were taped, but not all of the more than 1,000 other interviewees agreed to recordings, officials said.

The great care being taken by the White House -- it has required that the two men appear jointly, in private, and not be under oath -- reflects the political and governmental significance of tomorrow's meeting. The White House originally sought to limit the time of questioning and number of questioners. Bush has so far weathered the inquiry well, according to public opinion polls.

but judging by what Woodward said about Bush in meetings, Cheney still better bring along a juicebox and a baggie of goldfish crackers.

From "The Condensed Woodward" at Salon:

"At a Pentagon briefing, staffers lay out peppermint candy for each attendee.  Bush scarfs down his peppermint, and then begins to eye Bill Cohen's treat, which the former secretary gladly relinquishes.  General Hugh Shelton, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs, "noticed Bush eyeing his mint, so he passed it over.""

60. I think they're going longer than an hour
That was the original deal, when Bush was going in alone. First they said one hour, then they said Bush "won't walk out" at exactly the one-hour limit.

Now, under the buddy system, I think they said two hours.

57. Wow, he just gave the spin to the question in this press op
Asked why he would "testify" with Cheney, he said he "looked forward" to the opportunity to "meet" with the discussion to "help" them make their report to help future presidents deal with terrorism. No attempt to answer the question. Does not have an answer. There is NO legitimate reason to bring Cheney with him except that he's a freaking COWARD.

that is "balls" in Spanish by the way.

Maybe sending boxes of Kentucky Fried Chicken to the White House in the mail to show everyone how Bush is such a chicken or buck, buck, buck, bugawk!!!!!!!!!!!!! is NOT a good idea.

Clinton didn't actually testify alone either. He had Sandy Berger and Bruce Lindsey with him. Not to say that * isn't extra-crispy.

69. but, but, but
I thought it was UNPRECEDENTED for a president to testify. I thought presidents don't "testify." I thought this administration had given more information than had ever been done before.

70. Except on 9/11

They were probably eight year old who were honored-ha to have him visit their classroom on 9/11. Funny how his handlers let him talk to the little children for a loooog time and nevef let him lead the country that horrible day.

75. more questions about this
why did hamilton leave? what prior commitment could possibly be more important than this historic 911 hearing?

It is said he had to go to hear a speech the canadian pm. if it was so important, why isn't the pm's speech all over the news? what was it about?

why did kerrey leave?

why did bush stiff the 911 families by not making a transcript available to them?

74. Bush's Personality Disorder
I think he's pathological--Narcissistic Personality Disorder. He fits the character traits perfectly.
quote:
1. THE PATHOLOGICAL LIAR lies for no reason. Skilful and convincing, he will make up new lies when questioned. His memory is self serving. He is abusive, evasive and will deny past statements. He will bluff and threaten. Defense Strategy: Find a way to verify what he says. Don't tip your hand. Don't reveal things he will use against you. Don't believe a word he says. Head for the door when things don't add up. Don't ask questions as this just invites more lies.

2. THE CONTRACT BREAKER will agree to anything then turn around and do the opposite. Legal, custody agreements and normal social/personal protocol mean nothing to him. This con artist will accuse you of being the contract breaker. Enjoys orchestrating police/legal action and playing the role of the 'poor me' victim. Defense Strategy: Expect him to disregard the agreement. Have an effective Plan B in place. Protect yourself financially and emotionally.

*****

5. THE BLAME-GAME NARCISSIST never accepts responsibility. He blames ohers and he leaves them to clean up the mess he makes. A master at projection. Defense Strategy: Learn about projection. Don't take the bait when he blames you. He made the mess, let him clean it up.

****

7. THE CONTROLLER/MANIPULATOR pits people against each other. Keeps his allies and targets separated. He is verbally skilful at twisting our words and actions. He is charismatic and usually gets his way. Often undermines our support network and discourages us from seeing our family and friends. Money is often his objective. Other people's money is even better. He is ruthless, devious and cruel. This control-freak bully encourages dependence on him. Often appears pitiful, confused and in need of help. We rush in to help him with our finances, assets, and talents. We may be used as his proxy interacting with others on his behalf as he sets us up to take the fall or enjoys the performance he is directing. Our "Knight in Shining Armor" is now our nightmare. Defense Strategy: Know the 'nature of the beast'. Facing his failure and consequences will be his best lesson. Be suspicious of his motives, and avoid involvement. Don't bail him out

******
13. THE BRAINWASHER is very charismatic. He is able to manipulate others to obtain status, control, compliance, money, attention. Often found in religion and politics. He masterfully targets the naive, vulnerable, uneducated or mentally weak. Defense Strategy. Learn about brainwashing techniques. Listen to your gut instinct. Avoid them.

****
18. THE SAINT proclaims his high moral standing. Claims others as immoral. He wants justice for society. "Hang 'em high" he says about the murderer on the 6:00 news. This hypocrite lies, cheats, schemes, corrupts, abuses, deceives, controls, manipulates and torments while portraying himself of high morals. Defense Strategy: Learn the red flags of behaviour. Be suspicious of people claiming such high morals

****
19. THE CALLING-CARD NARCISSIST forewarns his targets. Early in the relationship he may 'slip up' revealing his 'true self' saying "You need to protect yourself around me" or perhaps "Watch out, you never know what I'm up to." We laugh along with him and misinterpret his words. Years later, coping with the devastation he's left behind, his victims recall the chilling warning. Defense Strategy: Know these red flags and be suspicious of the intentions of others.
_____________
Remember Chimpy's remarks about a dictatorship might be nice if he were the dictator? Weren't there other veiled remarks hinting at his true personality? Cant remember....

here's the link to the above quotes, before my little editorial remark:

http://groups.msn.com/PSYCHOPATH/20traitsofmalignantnarcissism1.msnw

Anyway, there's a TON of Narcissism info on the web..another interesting characteristic I read is that they tend to inspire devotion or INTENSE hatred in others!!
