Bush in Maine is an insult!
He's speaking now and I'm am flabergasted!

First he's smug and speaking down to everyone. What an insult to people's intelligence. THen he's trying to tout his environmental record and we all know that sucks.

All this after talking about freedom and all that.

I hate hate hate him and I'm so glad many of my friends are down there in Wells to protest this sham of an appearance.

19. Speaking of Earth day. I was in car today and heard an odd thing,
It was Rush so I only had it on a few minutes but he was talking about goose dropping making smog (smog) in the sky, as their are so many geese because they can not be killed.I did not get to hear the end of the talk.So is that what happened to the Am. Indians? All those geese killed the Indians off with goose dropping smog? My God this looks bad for those Can geese. They must be stopped at the border, now!!!!

2. I agree
I can only hope GW and Co. are all freezing their little hineys off. Notice though that there was not one protestor seen or heard from? They must screen the crowd or something because I KNOW they are there.
:grr:

At least CNN mentioned them...

10. The bush crew brought supporters in on buses.
Edited on Thu Apr-22-04 12:17 PM by Redneck Socialist
Protesters had to set up along his route in, but weren't actually allowed into the event itself.

I would guess that there were over three hundred people there. One of my friends was interviewed by one of the TV crews but I don't know if we actually got any press.

Another outrage. I wonder if he pays some kind entourage of actors to follow him around (just kidding) -kind of, after all anything W's spin machine does probably won't surprise me anymore. :grr:

How many protestors? CNN claimed "a couple dozen".

13. 300 protesters
Sorry. I posted too quickly and wasn't as clear as I should have been.

Several (didn't think to count them) bus loads of folks were brought in previous to the pResident showing up. Word was they were brought in so bush would have a friendly crowd.

If I was further down the coast, I'd be tempted to bring a carton of eggs to his speech.

6. I think a concerted effort
is needed with the media to balance their coverage of political speech. * sees his job as reading prepared speeches and that is about it. These speeches are political in nature and should be edited as such by the media. I also think that we should take a serious look at the travels of a president given the deficit spending and increased costs of security and travel related expenses. I would hazard a guess that this individual, *,has more than out spent previous presidents in this area. I also do not see the rationale for continuous coverage of his speeches which are for the most part redundant and of little substance.

7. And he's from Maine! Must suck.
Being in Texas, I know your pain. You should have seen him as governor. Heck, even as owner of the Rangers he was disgusting.

15. He's not from Maine...please!
He's from Connecticut. His family has a summer house here. That's bad enough.

And, in fact, he even mispronounced the town of Kennebunkport. I don't know of anyone who calls it Ken - Knee - Bunkport. It's Ken-ah-bunkport. But he's ignorant so we have to put up with stuff like that.

Sheesh!

Church Group Raps Bush on Clean Air Act

By ELIZABETH M. GILLESPIE
Associated Press Writer

SEATTLE (AP) -- A national group of Christian leaders is sending a scathing letter to President Bush to coincide with Earth Day, accusing his administration of chipping away at the Clean Air Act.

SNIP

"In a spirit of shared faith and respect, we feel called to express grave moral concern about your 'Clear Skies' initiative - which we believe is The Administration's continuous effort to weaken critical environmental standards to protect God's creation," the council wrote in an advance copy of the letter provided to The Associated Press.

SNIP

Monica Myers, pastor at Seattle's Northwest Christian Church, a Disciples of Christ congregation, said she doesn't plan to bash Bush in her sermon Sunday. Instead, she said she'll simply remind her congregation that pollution and other environmental problems tend to affect the poor more harshly than those who can afford to live in places far away from polluting factories or toxic waste sites.

"I want to emphasize that their faith should direct them as they vote," she said. "Responsible Christians should weigh the teachings of Jesus Christ, especially as they speak of those who are poor and marginalized."

So Shrub, have you asked God for guidance on this?

On edit: Sorry, the link doesn't work unless you are signed up for the paper. I was referencing the Corpus Christi Caller. It's a short article anyway.

9. Where is he in Maine?
I am assuming Wells, which is right next to Kennebunkport. What is his reputation around there, considering the fact that his family's place at Walker's point has long been part of it's claim to fame?

It seems like most Mainers would despise him, given how they don't suffer fools gladly, but my sister and her freeper husband - who live in Kbunkport, say everyone there loves him. I don't believe them - what say you?
