My patient's father is furious over bu$h and the war.

He is a Vietnamese man who spent half of his life in war and saw the bullshit and hypocracy in Viet Nam when he was a soldier for the south.
His son is in a vegatative state due to an anesthesia mixup. One of his other sons is a schizophrenic and is prone to hospitalization. His 3rd and oldest son was in the Army reserves in Hawaii. He was promised that he would remain in Hawaii for his entire obligation. That changed and he is now in Baghdad disarming roadside bombs. The kids mother has told me numerous times that bu$h lied to them and took their only "normal" son.
This what he tells me.
"I come to this country after they failed me in Viet Nam. After I spilled my blood for them. Now they fail me again for taking my son to fight a war for oil and greed."
When I go into their son's room CNN or MSNBC is always on. The Dad just shakes his head angrily while watching the footage from Iraq. The Mom cries. This tears my heart out. These are good hard working people who are here because the US govt fought an illegal and immoral war for profit in their home country and fucked it up really bad. Now with another illegal, immoral war for profit, that is being fucked up even worse, their only "normal' son is put into harms way disarming roadside bombs.
I pray for them and the kid's safety.

He graduated from U of Hawaii with an engineering degree. He's now a "combat engineer".

Nasty GOP comment from someone I know: As far as the military, they know what they are getting into when they enlist. This wasn't a draft, they enlisted knowing good and well what they were being trained for. If they wanted free college, the military isn't the place to get it if you don't wanna go to war. They protect the freedom we all have. Without bloodshed, we wouldn't have the freedom we have today. It is sad that lives must be lost, but this is a small count considered to the amount of time we were at war.

I'll be suggesting she get her butt over to ER tech school or nursing school and then to an enlistment office so she can work on the front lines! I'll also be reminding her that her oldest will be old enough to be drafted if DimSon gets another term followed by Cheney.

This is a true tragedy. He is their only "normal" son and these poor people have allready gone through hell with the younger 2 boys.
