We should not be surprised at "ordinariness."
I've read many posts here (such as the recent one criticizing Paul Begala's approach) expressing surprise that one of our own is so "wimpy," or "does not follow up," etc.

What I think many fail to realize is this: BIG SHOTS, MEDIA PEOPLE & POLITICIANS who are liberals, are just like us.

Yeah, they have more staff and time to study the issues. There is a good case to be made for requiring our Democratic pols to spend an hour a day on the 'net, catching up.

But, they are dumb asses, just like me and (some of) you. Like lotsa us.

So cut them some slack. And encourage them to come here 2-3 times a day to catch up on the real news. This board has more info on it (not opinion, info) than a month of daily newspapers (mine: Detroit Free Press & News - both rather raggy) or 5 years of TV news.

So, we slack off, so do these folks. However, when we do so, nobody dies.
