Staying the course isn't cutting it
When it comes to the problems the US and Iraq both face - staying the course is not cutting it. I would like to propose a bold new initiative for Mr. Kerry to actively and strongly push...

The US wants Iraq to be a free democratic society and so do the majority of Iraqi's. I think the US should cancel the handover, and bring about a timeframe for direct elections under the auspices of the UN.

The handover is not going to be a soverign body of Iraqi's anyway if they are handpicked by the US, and the nation would not really be "soveriegn" if it does not control its own security forces - which the US would continue to control after the handover date.

3. famous last words - "stay the course"
Edited on Wed Apr-21-04 05:28 PM by dfong63
i wonder how many ships have been dashed on the rocks, or went to the bottom of the sea, after the captain uttered these stirring words. "stay the course". a smart captain is always watching, thinking, planning, and will change course when he sees a reef, or a storm.

4. course? what course? we don't need no stinking course!
Get real, these poorly socialized flunkys wouldn't know a course if it bit them on their collective asses. They make it up as they go along and hope things work out in their favor. Same way George passed his pilot's exam; multiple choice for questions each so odds are just guessing would achieve ~25% score. His score? 25%. nuff said.
