2. I would be one destroyed mama, if my boy came home in one of those
4th of July boxes.

3. Good lord...
Yikes. Trudeau completists, is this the first time we've ever seen BD without his helmet?

Yikes again.

4. RE: "Good lord..."
I was just thinking the same thing: football helmet, motorcycle helmet, soldier's helmet... I can't remember ever seeing BD without some sort of helmet on.

Trudeau is a freakin' genius... he's actually got me worried about a cartoon character's well-being! The missing leg and missing helmet make a very moving, almost traumatic, double-whammy.

6. The past few strips leading up to today have been amazing,
with the blacked-out panels and the view from the victim's perspective. Really stunning. I have never had this kind of reaction to any comic.

7. Bravo to Darby!
Since cartoonists tend to do their work weeks in advance, I would assume that he had no idea about Trudeau's complementary strip.

But damn -- Rob is providing the face for the thousands of family members and friends of those injured in Iraq, who are being smuggled into the country in the dark of night so that no one can see what our country is doing to its soldiers. And for what? The Shrub's ego? Linking the Repukes' corporate coffers? Showing how baaaad we are in the world community?
