Does our President still attend AA meetings?
With all his "higher power" talk, one would think so, I wonder how many meetings he catches each week? Does his "higher power" tell him to continue killing people? WWJD, George? BTW, George, read steps 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, or 10 lately?

2. he never went to AA
he got "saved" in church-- If the guy was working a program I wouldn't be so worried, but speaking from experience around AA, he is a very scary man-- On the other hand, check out Ann Richards, now that woman works a program :yourock:

3. Bush is a "dry drunk"

meaning he stopped drinking cold and never went through any detox or 12 step program. This is why he still often exhibits classic traits of an alcoholic including a very high ability to appear very convincing when telling a lie.

Personally, I think he's drinking heavily these days.

I'd be drinking into a stupor, too.

9. and with laura's reputation as a drinker and smoker, there is no way he
could be sober around her.... and with the way barb and poppy drink as well.

george doesn't have the stamina to be sober around all those drinkers. JUST not possible.

4. Well, I would assume his is a muscular Christianity
Which condones violence and even killing in the name of protecting innocents; which is presumably how he sees his actions.

Has there been any official record of him ever attending AA meetings? There was a west wing episode (a couple really) about a secret AA meeting attended by various senators and high level administration officials, that was disguised as a card game.

6. Speaking as someone...
Who used to go out into the field on crisis calls, because I was so good at evaluating who was toasted and on what, I would say that he is clearly toasted on occassion. On what? Oh, sometimes ETOH and sometimes prescription meds, like Atavan and other ananxiolytics.

11. I never heard of ananxiolytics, so I looked it up and here is what I found
Neuropharmacology of
sedatives and anxiolytics

ABSTRACT
Sedative drugs are intended to cause various degrees of drowsiness. Animal experiments indicate that barbiturates induce these effects primarily by depression of the reticular activating system in the rostral brainstem. This in turn potentiates the thalamic recruiting system, thereby inducing 'barbiturate bursts' in the EEG. Anxiolytic drugs are intended to reduce anxiety or tension at doses which do not cause sedation or sleep. Propanediols may depress deactivating centers in the caudal brainstem, thereby releasing the activating centers in the rostral brainstem and depressing the thalamic recruiting response. These drugs may also act on the amygdala. Benzodiazepines have depressant effects on the amydala or hippocampus. These effects may release the reticular formation from inhibition. Enhanced activity of the activating and deactivating centers, to a different extent in different animals, would produce restlessness in some animals and sedation in others, accompanied by a mixture of fast and slow waves in the EEG. Sedative and anxiolytic agents also have central relaxant effects. The barbiturates act directly on the spinal cord, depressing both monosynaptic and polysynaptic reflexes. Propanediols and benzodiazepines act primarily on the descending facilitatory influence of the brainstem. Reduction of this influence depresses spinal polysynaptic but not monosynaptic reflexes. Biochemical studies suggest that barbiturates may act by antagonizing synaptic excitation induced by glutamate. Benzodiazepines may act by enhancing presynaptic inhibition mediated by GABA. The mechanism of action of propanediols is unknown. O8)

This clears up a lot of Bush behaviors for me. Thanks.

7. While running for governor, he made fun of Ann Richards
who does attend AA meetings.

He believes AA is for the weak. He found Jesus and doesn't need the support of a community. Just Jesus and him.

Now, if he would allow Jesus to find him.

8. Dubya appears to have taken...
...the easier, softer way and avoided AA altogether. He found Jesus Christ, his Lord and Saviour, the Methodist Church, Karl Rove and the rest of the BushCo entourage. With a support group like that, who needs AA? :eyes: :freak:

12. If he found religion
I'm glad and happy for him.... but please don't try and be this "great converter" who tries to go out of his way to force his god upon others.

We don't need a 2cd Inquisition.
