A question for anyone that has read Woodward's book?
Is it or is it not favorable to George W Bush? I hear that Bush and Cheney have it on their campaign web page and they are saying it shows Bush as a powerful and decisive leader? Is that true?

But then, I see excerpts and comments from others that show Bush as going along with Cheney and Rumsfeld. That he lies about when the plans are for going to war with Iraq. That he diverts $700 million dollars from the war in Afghanistan but says they didn't really need it.

What is the truth?

2. I am about 40 pages into it
so far it is pretty 'neutral.' Bu$h already has come across as a doltish child, Rummy as decisive. Woodward book is not really holding my interest as Clarke's did, is that a sign?

3. Almost every page has something damning about BushCo.
I'm compiling a list. Will post as soon as I finish the book.

4. Woody's definitely trying to walk a line BUT
it's pretty easy to tell do far (I'm 2/3 done) that all of the stuff that makes bush* look like a 21st century Paladin comes from either chimp's inner circle or chimp himself and is not verified by anyone other than them.

Idiot freepers will fall for obvious self serving BS, but most people will see it for what it is.

6. In all fairness to the guy
This is what he does for a living; if he alienates Bush too much and Bush gets a second term than what is he going to do for four years? His books on the priniciple of access.

5. Two theories as to why it is on the GWB website.
1. They thought it was going to be flattering. . .they didnt realize what was in it until it was published (unlike clark book they did not see ahead of time) so they put it up on the web site weeks ago.

2. They are trying to spin it - they know it is damaging, but since 1, they figure they will just spin it and their people will believe it.

I finally saw Woodward on Larry King. It was obvious to me that he likes George Bush personally, but he thinks that George Bush really crossed the line. The things he is saying all in all are not favorable.
