CNN implies holocaust deniers and 9/11 skeptics are in the same league
The Simon Wiesenthal Center, which has been tracking hate Web sites for nine years, describes in the report released Monday more than 200 of about 4,000 online hate sites it monitors.

The group said it has seen a surge this year in the number of sites that promote terrorist recruitment, urging young people to join "holy wars" and become suicide bombers.

The report includes sites that deny the Holocaust, theorize September 11 conspiracies and glorify al Qaeda. The more common hate sites feature racism, anti-Semitism and gay bashing.

This description suggests that 9/11 skeptics and deniers of the holocaust or people glorifying al Qaeda play the same game. Dissent of official tales doesn't seem to be desired.

1. My take on this..
I think the 9/11 conspiricy theories that the Simon Wiesenthal Center are referring to are the "Jews were told not to come to work on 9/11" type, NOT the "Bush knew and was sitting on his ass waiting for it to happen" variety.

... just my $0.02

6. The imprecision also identifies Bush's Homeland with
the Jews of the Holocaust, further reifying Americans' victimology.

2. DU is far from being a hate site.

Something you will NOT find at DU....but you might at a few R.W. sites that I wont name (remember the Margaret Cho incident?). And they can be attributed to Bush politics...I'd rather be associated with conspiracy theorist over bigoted racists any day.

And in the main line: "Online games that allow children to "shoot" illegal immigrants, Jews and blacks"......urging young people to join "holy wars" and become suicide bombers.

I really see no implication of DU in this article. Sure we've shared a few conspiracies, but us? A hate site??

Kind of makes DU seem mild in comparison, as far as extremism goes. IMHO

3. Odd, I thought the official version of Sept. 11 tragedy was conspiracy
Is the Wiesenthal Center promoting the idea that four planes were hijacked and rammed into buildings (mostly) within two hours of each other by coincidence?

8. A "lone gunman" did 9/11!
That's the only option if you exclude conspiracies of any kind. Quite a busy guy.

(& I'm not referring to the episode of "The Lone Gunmen" wherein a rogue government plan to slam a plane into the WTC is foiled by our heroes.)

4. They should have said....
"Jewish involvement in conspiracy theories."

I've seen a post or two on here about two or three guys - at least one of whom worked for Israeli intelligence - who were picked up the day of the attacks, btw.

7. Pre-emptive strike against sites that *DARE* to question
Like the Simon Wiesenthal Centre is a place of objective viewpoints?

Damn, have to stop asking those questions else I'll be charged with
anti-Semitism ...

Just lump honest doubt in with fascists, racists & bigots of all creeds
and not say anything more.

9. That's a common procedure
Some weeks ago there was a documentary about conspiracy theories in German TV.

So many Germans believe evil conspiracy theories about 9/11 because they are anti-semitic and anti-American (we cannot accept the fact that we, the nation of Nietzsche and Beethoven, were liberated by Niggers with chewing gums from the mid west, so we hate the Americans).

That's what I call grounded theory-building.
