War Memorial In PA (EVERYONE LOOK!!!)
Hello I attend the Indiana University of PA and am President of the activist group Voice for Peace. The group formed out of opposition to the war in Iraq. Starting on Monday and continuing through Friday the group is having a care package drive for the soldiers. The centerpiece of this event is a memorial graveyard that has a cross for every soldier that has been killed in Iraq. The purpose is to call to attention and to provide some sort of grasping how many people have been killed. The logic behind the care package drive is that these soldiers are ours. They are our brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, friends, family and lovers. We owe it to them to support and take care of them no matter how much we disagree with the cause. We believe the best way to protect them is to bring them home. You can not see our table in the pictures but also had a table with information on the soldiers that were killed, the possibility of another draft, information on the coalition deaths and information on the Iraqis that have been killed. The most amazing part of this project is the reaction from the students. Some are saddened, some tell us stories of friends that have been lost, some are angered and the most interesting are those who refuse to even look. Please post these pictures anywhere you can for I feel they have a powerful message behind. Send them to anyone you think may have an interest and post them on any message board or news cite.
Any comments or questions should be sent to: gkwk@iup.edu

I wish this could be done on lots of college campuses, and the mall in DC....

Great work you've done.

edited to add: It should also be outside every damn polling place in November.

9. To whom?
To bush & his criminal gang?

To the families of the soldiers dying?

To our nation and future generations, which will suffer due to the financial burden of this illegal and unnecessary war of aggression?

To Iraqis?

16. Phil Ochs lyric, sorry
Probably a bit too obscure for this day and age. It's from a song called "I Ain't Marchin' Anymore" written during the Vietnam era.

10. Bless you all for your hard work. Far superior to the whore media,
who seem to prefer downplaying the soldiers' deaths.

12. The Number Makes an Impact in Itself
The wingnut dismissal of war dead has always been there. During Vietnam they would say, "More are killed in car accidents each year."

17. Really good work!
What has been the response so far? Also, this is so well done. It's a powerful image and at the same time you can't help but think that this war is still going on. Each and every day more crosses are going to be added. This is something that should be replicated around the country.

21. Where it is at
It is on Kieth Lawn. Which is next to the political science department. Just go between Kieth hall and the parking lot. You can't miss it. I hope you stop by later. We will be there every day this week from 11-4 and the crosses will be up at all times. Let me know what you think

22. Thank you Everyone
Thank you all for your words of support. Later I will post pictures from today and information regarding media reaction and on campus reaction. If anyone wishes to attempt something similar please let us know that way we can provide pointers and let you know what worked and what didn't. Once again I urge everyone to please pass around these pictures and send them to anyone who may be interested. Thank you all for your support.
