How could you hope to compete with a mere keyboard? Messages tapped out to a forum of disassociated free-thinkers?
Politicians don't care for that sort of thing. They don't know how to capitalize on it, spin it or control it. Central Committee members especially. I mean, what were you thinking, that you and people like you live in some sort of democracy? Are entitled to alternative, parallel cyber-expressions of free speech?
I can almost understand how the person you speak of, the shaming one, might have been so confrontational with you. We live in a confrontational age. It starts with right-wing squawk radio, where all of the action, from Limbaugh, to Hannity, to our own local idiot, the belligerant, bellicose Mark Belling, is so well spit-shined, creased, polished, sanitized, sanctioned and approved by the central committee of the Republican Party, they're all repeating the same message all the time. The Political Commissar's in Stalin's Russia would be envious, to see marching orders always followed so closely.
It's really pretty terrifying. Your local CC guy sees you as a confused hoplite, out of formation with the rest of the phalanx, spinning in circles or something, at the pass of thermopalae (spelling, sorry), while the whole weight of the Persian Army is bearing down, threatening to steamroll freedom of thought, as we know it, for all time...
...I think you and the rest of the guys just need to take a breath and relax and try and get on the same page, and figure out what's going to be your most honest message. Cut through the crap. Deflect the steamroller with humor, with accuracy, be on-point, and the over-hyped thing will collapse under it's own ponderous weight.
