Bush's accent
Some people have noticed that Bush affects a Southern, Texas drawl sometimes.

When he is stressed or uncomfortable or peeved (eg, at a press conference), he tends to revert to a more Yankee accent.

Here's a link mentioning the Southern drawl:

I think this is interesting, in light of:

(1) Bush's experience as a cheerleader at Andover prep school.
(2) Bush's belief in the power of "drag" (eg, the flight-suit)

and Bush does not have one.

3. Nope, not yankee or Texan - Just Moran
no, you might be right, when stressed he stumbles around something awful, hard to say what he is attempting to pull off.

13. No, I mean moran
but thanks for the ever so polite, if incorrect knock.

See, long ago, a freeper held up a sign at a peace rally that read, get a life morans. You'll see it on folk's avatar's on occassion still. It was a classic.

Have a nice night. :hi:

6. Impediment comes from the latin impedimenta
meaning heavy baggage.

11. i don't understand
Bushinese or whatever language it is he speaks. The accent may be "illustrious" of stress but the butchering of 2 syllable words is un-nerving.

12. And why doesn't Jebbie talk like that?

I have 3 brothers, and my mom confuses us on the phone all the time. Jebbie sounds nothing like Georgie.

It's like this one buddy of mine, spent about 3 weeks in England and affected an English accent for the next two years :eyes:

14. He talks like that so he'll look like a 'good ol' boy'
You can trust him! See, he's just a good ol' southerner who is just one of the guys - one of the guys you'd like to have a beer with - who will never condescend you but instead will tell it like it is.

THAT is the illusion they are trying to put forward with that stupid fake accent and swagger of his. It's amazing how few people know that he was actually born, raised and went to college in New England.
