whitehouse.gov server change (It's now in FEMA's network)
I find this a bit interesting: http://uptime.netcraft.com/up/graph/?host=whitehouse.gov

Sometime between 3/20/2004 and 4/2/2004 the way whitehouse.gov is connected to the Internet was changed. Previously it was in a netblock of addresses owned by the Executive Office Of The President - it was switched over to FEMAs netblock.

Maybe someone can come up with a conspiracy theory!

2. This is scary. I just heard on Air America news
a report claiming that cyberexperts have "discovered" serious problems with the internet that leave the routers open to hacking.

I fear they are moving to shut down the internet under the pretext of hacking etc.

And of course the internet is such a powerful tool for those opposed to the Bush regime.

They must be taking lessons from the Chinese ...

3. Hmm, the date of the switch is VERY interesting...
I'd guess that GWB got one of the Internet Cleaning notices that traditionally go out around 1 April. I'd further postulate that he took it very seriously and unhooked all the White House computers from the Net. Then there may have been a power struggle between the White House sysadmins and the FEMA sysadmins over who should reconnect everything, which FEMA won, meaning before long publishers will be getting tell-all manuscripts entitled I Was a White House Geek that will reveal the top 10 Usenet groups from which Cabinet staffers download binaries, GWB's top-secret AOL nickname, and other top-secret stuff.
