Edited on Tue Apr-20-04 03:48 PM by hf_jai
General Clark will be the keynote speaker at the Alabama spring "For the People Dinner" on May 11th in Birmingham. Clark supporters from the region are planning to attend as a group and show our support for Clark, Kerry, and the Democratic party as a whole. Let's see how many tables we can fill, shall we?

Please PM me or Jim4Wes for details, and check out the state party invitation at:

General
Wesley Clark

1. Thanks jai for helping me get
the word out. I'm sure Wes would love to see a group of us there and I will pass the word up the chain of command so he knows about us. :hi:

4. Wes will win several states in South, including Arkansas and Louisiana
If Kerry has the good sense to choose him as his VP they will also take Arizona and New Mexico. I think Kerry already has made his choice, but Wes is working his tail off for Kerry. Good thing, since the white men of the country seem to have swallowed the Bush version of why "we" attacked Iraq. Whose Human Rights is the Occupation Defending?Check out www.uslaboragainstwar.org. I doubt that more than 10 Americans even know that this type of crap is going on. Bis surprise the Brits would be in on this one.

Okay, now why do "they" hate us?

Give em Hell and don't give up, Wes! Southerners are Americans too! Just like the Iraqis, though, lots of them are afraid to speak up for fear of retribution!

6. Clark brings a special feel to these State events
I was present in March at the Kansas State Democratic Convention Dinner (Ad Astra) in Topeka when Clark spoke as a surrogate for Kerry. It was electrifying, for all present, including a couple of dozen Clark supporters who came just to hear him.

I was a Kerry delegate at the Missouri State Democratic Convention at Columbia, MO., this weekend and it just wasn't the same. Gephardt and Shaheen were serviceable in their stumping for Kerry, but there was something missing.

When I read the reports of people who went to the Nebraska Democratic Convention in Lincoln and at a Democratic dinner in Little Rock, both where Clark was the featured speaker in the past week, I knew that we should have had in Missouri too.

Anybody within a four hour drive should make the effort to go to Birmingham for the Alabama State Dem function. Kerry will have a hard time in every State in the South, but that is no reason to give it up. You should make the effort to go, you'll not regret it.

8. Thanks denny for the encouragement
I have never seen him in person. Really looking forward to it. :)

My wife and two kids will be with us, but the kids probably won't go to the dinner. It would be nice to have some more Clarkies at our table. ;-)

9. Clark as surrogate for Kerry
Isn't it interesting that either 1) Alabama Dems asked for Clark or 2) they asked for Kerry and Kerry sent Clark.

But not John "My Backyard" Edwards?

Someone knows who speaks best to Southern Dems and other moderates, don't they?

10. Welcome to DU denny
I hope we'll be seeing more post from you, you're first one was great.:)

And Jim, you haven't seen Wes yet? That's amazing, I'm one up on you on something. I saw him in Denver back in November back when he was still a candidate with a decent chance to win.

I hope that it's really great. I wish I could fly out to the deep south for it.

Maybe he'll come back to Colorado. He did spend alot of time at Fort Carson, and he said that Colorado is his favorite state.

JONESBORO -- A major political figure visits region Region 8 Tuesday. Former presidential candidate General Wesley Clark stopped by the campus of Arkansas State University Tuesday afternoon. And, why you may ask? Well, because the students asked him to.
