So all the people who think Gore didn't fight, think Davis should quit
continued from archived thread

Everyday on DU I can read several posts about how we didn't fight in Florida, Gore was too gentlemanly, he wasn't tough enough, Lieberman sold out and on and on and on.
Now in California we have a governor who may not be doing well in the polls..nevermind that he has NOT YET campaigned against the recall and no one ELSE has campaigned for governor, but all of a sudden DAVIS SHOULD FOLD even though we FAULT AL GORE FOR FOLDING???

Is there anyone who can explain the basis for their faulty reasoning?

Is there anyone who can honestly say that they are not posting this out of anything but fear? (but for opportunistic disruptors and a couple Camejo fans)

My sentiments are as follows.
If you LIVE in California and fear the recal...GET OFF YOUR ASS!

If you don't live in California..odds are very strong that YOUR STATE WENT FOR BUSH while you sat on your ass and I didn't so I don't take kindly to plays called from the cheap seats.

1. Just moved FROM California...
...and I agree with you. I'm sick of all the Dems in the state wringing their hands over whether they should put another Dem on the ballot...JUST IN CASE...nice way to give up before the fight begins! They do that, they play by the Nazi's rules, and those Nazis not only have the Dems playing defensive (you play offiense in poltitics, this isn't football) but they then smell blood. Might as well pack it up.

NO WONDER we don't control ANY branch of the federal government!

5. sounds like the DLC...conform to the rules of the right-wing
Davis can't fold (wont make any difference) so he might as well do his best to fight. My argument would be that someone else should do the fighting for Davis (celebs, other pols, etc.)

2. I agree with you completely.
As a Californian I have always said that Davis should not step down and instead fight this coup attempt tooth and nail.

And I will out helping him as best as I can.

3. Yes, NSMA. I've never seen a bigger bunch of fair-weather friends
than the California Democrats, including Barbara Boxer, who are writing off Gov. Davis before the counter-recall has even begun. It's disgusting that the Democratic Party cannot even maintain a semblance of unity. If the Democrats act nationally like they do here in California, we'll never retake the White House.

4. As a Californian
Its no longer about his Poll numbers. even if he wins he is still an emasculated politiican... He wwas ineffective before hand and you discount the fact than obody in this state that I am aware of is particualry enthusiastic about boting to keep him in except fo rthe fact that he is not a repuke.

Bring on Panetta now!

6. Exactly. They were the same people saying that Gore should concede
because it wasn't worth it governing with a GOP congress and all. They are the same people who would attack any Dem for doing saying anything right. I say the only thing is needed there; huge mobilization to vote "NO"

7. Wimpy Democrats should seek asylum in Canada
The rest of us will stay here to duke it out with rethuglicans. Worst case scenario is that Davis will resign right before the vote because of poor poll numbers. Then we get Democrat lieutenant Governor Bustamante for the next eight years.
