A friend of mine and I had a discussion on why there is relatively little social upheaval in the United States (both today and historically) when compared to the rest of the world. I said, "It's because when you flip the light switch it comes on. When the lights don't go on, people get irritated." My point is, people really ahve no need to grab pitchforks and torches and physically attack and oust the powers-that-be. What does this have to do with Kerry? Simple. Most people feel they know a lot about George Bush. He's been President for three years and for the most part, the country still runs. Basic services are met on a day-to-day basis. So Bush benefits from the "Devil-You-Know" theory. Kerry has got to get out and explain his programs to the American people better than he's done so far. He's got to explain to people how he'll improve the situation for them. Just saying, "Look at Bush. He's a dolt and I can do better, is NOT working." He hasn't explained why he's better or why people should trust him. He needs to get out there and campaign like he WANTS to be President and explain WHY he's the better person.
