Seattle backpack company gets caught up in freeper furor
I found this story at http://dneiwert.blogspot.com/.

"Someone at Tom Bihn, a Port Angeles manufacturer of backpacks and luggage, decided to append the following detailed explanation on the care tags attached to some of the company's goods:

Nous sommes desoles que notre president soit un idiot. Nous n'avons pas vote pour lui.

Which translates:

'We are sorry our president is an idiot. We didn't vote for him.'

Bihn himself told the P-I he thinks whoever did it was talking about him and not, say, some other unnamed president. He's also a pretty enlightened boss, as far as that goes, saying he has no intention of tracking down the workplace subversive: 'There are bigger fish to fry.'"

The freepers go nuts.

"The factory for this company is here in Port Angeles, WA.

This guy is trying to blow smoke up everyone's butt...now that he is being called on his misdeeds, he is trying to get out of it by stating that the tag was meant for him. Anyone who lives here in Port Angeles knows of Bihn's (and his employees') Democratic party activism.

Until he went down in flames, a "Dean for America" sign was in his store window, and during the major combat phase is Iraq, he had a "NO Iraq War" sign in his window.

These libbies like to call Bush a liar...look who is lying now!

LET'S GET THE WORD OUT, FREEPERS TO BOYCOTT TOM BIHN BAGS!!

CONSERVATIVES BUY ALOT OF THESE KINDS OF PRODUCTS!!

(After all, we have jobs and money, freeloading libbie/hippies don't!...and I just don't buy his statement that is profits have gone up, nor that they are going to Veteran's Hospitals)

Then there's this guy, notice how his rhetoric is exactly like Nazi hate speech against the Jews - it could have been written by a Nazi in the late 1930s.

"The days of big business being "in bed" with the Republicans died long ago. Unfortunately, the lamestream media is so left biased that they are able to continue to propagate this myth; they never write about the businesses and business leaders that are deep in bed with the Democrats.

The truth is, the Leftists have infiltrated and--for the most part--control every segment of our society: the media, the educational system, the government, the churches, the judiciary, and much of the corporate world. Even the military has been infiltrated and subverted. All part of their plan to destroy America from within.

13. MIght just have to order one; check out the 2nd paragraph
"So, now, not only can you have this label inside your bag, but you can also wear it proudly on your chest. And you can feel good about it because all the profits from sales of this shirt will be donated to the Seattle Vet Center to benefit their Homeless Vet Program."

Gee, I wonder if any of those ex-military freepers are going to be eating on Mr. Bihn's dime in the coming years?

3. I'm quite proud of my Air Force service
I never realized my whole intent was to destroy America from within. I'd like to destroy "SpyGuy's" America though. Does that count?

6. Freepers buying backpacks?
How many backpackers are freepers? Who are they kidding?

Who is lying now? Let's see, "lying" about a tag on a backpack vs. lying about reasons to go to war and kill thousands of people--yeah, that's about even.

7. Like there's a huge freeper backpacker market?
Freepers don't backpack anywhere. They put the camper shells on their trucks and sleep in the back (after they move all the empty Keystone Light cans out of the way).

9. Oh, gee. A company saying something...
with its own money on its own products. And in French, yet. How un-American!
Freepers are beyond nuts. After all, "Leftists have infiltrated and--for the most part--control every segment of our society: the media, the educational system, the government, the churches, the judiciary, and much of the corporate world." but we are all "freeloading libbie/hippies" with no jobs or money.

11. Serendipity!!!!!
I was just saying on Friday that my old laptop bag has had about enough home repairs and that it's time to get a new one. I surfed right on over and found just the one I wanted and bought in on the spot. I BEGGED them to be certain that the one they ship me has THE LABEL in it!!

15. Have you been to their site?
They have a running dialog about the tag. I love Tom's response, and hope I don't get into trouble for posting it here (mods, hope it isn't too long!) Bold is added by me.

Yes it is true I was elected by the board of directors of TOM BIHN INC to be president. Not by the seamstresses or production coordinator or graphic artists or translators. Therefore, "they" did not vote for me, just like the label says.
(Our senior seamstress is a Vietnam veteran and she thinks it's really funny that everyone assumes it's about George Bush. Maybe she did it?)
I personally don't have any fear of a Republican backlash. I have lots of friends that are Republicans and am a great admirer of many Republican ideals, such as small government, fiscal responsibility, personal liberty and a cautious foreign policy.
Regarding our troops (and customers) in Iraq, I'll have to wait to see what they post. We are very proud of that they've chosen some of our bags to equip themselves with in this most extreme and dangerous situation. It is sad that they are forced to buy our bags with their own money - I would have gladly missed out on the $300 "tax cut" I got to know that our men and women in uniform were properly equipped. I hope and pray they all come home soon and in one piece.
I could write more, but I have a factory to run!
