GREAT Interview On Franken RE: Mandatory Drug Sentencing
Wow, is anybody listening to this? I knew that the "war on drugs" laws were insane and counterproductive but this guy is blowing my mind with some of the particulars of it...who is this guy? Whatever his group is --- I want to support it...

two great organizations are:
Families Against Mandatory Minimums

and

The Drug Policy Alliance

The draconian sentencing guidelines under federal law and the 3 strike and mnadatory minimums law are creating a massive criminal and ex-criminal class in our country that is nearly powerless due to disenfranchisement.

On Edit: this guy is from FAMM (the famm website contains a blurb about it), listening now and yeh this is one great interview. It's nice to see this issue get some attention.

2. The whole drug war is unconstitutional
....which is why they originally had to base the idiocy on tax law.

Forfieture laws blatantly violate the fourth amendment.

Mandatory minimums are the legislature usurping the power of the judiciary to determine these things.

This is tyranny. No matter how you feel about drugs or the people who use drugs, this is entirely unacceptable. Either we admit the constitution is not worth the parchment it's written on, or we throw out the drug war.
