What states are NG/reserves being activated
While reading the article about how Minnesota is burying another hero, my tinfoil hat quivered and I was wondering if anyone had done a study of where National Guard/reserve units are being activated from. Are they mostly Blue states or are they for the most part equally divided between red/blue states.

I hate even asking this question, but after all the lies told by * and his people and how politics dictate everything, I'm cynical enough to believe they would activate units in states they know they won't win and resist activating units in states where they hold a lead.

2. That's a good thought, I can't help though
I wonder if it is black and white like that though. If you pull up troops you don't necessarily drum up anti bush sentiment and viceversa. I imagine the gun-ho crowd probably will be unswayed, and the undoubtedly make up a signifigant proportion of the NG in the pro bush states. Maybe not though.

By Associated Press

SPRINGFIELD -- More than 600 Illinois National Guard troops who expected to return home from the Middle East by June are being ordered to stay at least three months longer because of the increasing violence in Iraq, officials announced Thursday.

The military extended the tours of four of the seven Illinois National Guard units now serving in the Middle East, 604 soldiers in all from units in Peoria, Freeport, Chicago and North Riverside.

For Company F of the 106th Aviation Battalion based in Peoria, this will be the second time its one-year tour has been extended.

The other units are the 333rd Military Police Company in Freeport, the 933rd Military Police Company in Chicago and the 1244th Transportation Company in North Riverside.

4. You should ask: In which states has the National Guard NOT been called
up and/or their tour extended.

Forest fire season coming up, snowpack light, not good for civilians here in the U.S., who might need the National Guard to supplement evacuations, ferry equipment, etc. Thanks, Bush, you're really helping us here at home.

5. Arkansas is worried
because about half the Air Guard is overseas, and it is burning season in the National Forest here.
